9 Naqueles dias, Maria partiu para a região montanhosa, dirigindo-se, apressadamente, a uma cidade da Judeia. 40 Entrou na casa de Zacarias e cumprimentou Isabel. 41 Quando Isabel ouviu a saudação de Maria, a criança pulou no seu ventre e Isabel ficou cheia do Espírito Santo. 42 Com um grande grito, exclamou: “Bendita és tu entre as mulheres e bendito é o fruto do teu ventre!” 43 Como posso merecer que a mãe do meu Senhor me venha visitar? 44 Logo que a tua saudação chegou aos meus ouvidos, a criança pulou de alegria no meu ventre. 45 “Bem-aventurada aquela que acreditou, porque será cumprido o que o Senhor lhe prometeu”.

Biblical Text 
9 in those days, Mary went to the mountainous region, addressing, hastily, a city of Judea. 40 entered the House of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 With a great shout, exclaimed: "blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!" 43 How do I deserve that the mother of my Lord should come to see me? 44 as soon as your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. 45 "blessed one who believed, because will be fulfilled what you promised".

Refletindo

Vemos no evangelho de hoje o encontro de duas mulheres que estão grávidas sem que isso fosse possível. De um lado, Isabel, idosa e estéril, e de outro Maria, virgem. A idosa representando o Antigo Testamento, pois será a mãe do último profeta da Antiga Aliança. A virgem representando o Novo Testamento, pois será a mãe daquele que no seu sangue selará a Nova e Eterna Aliança entre Deus e os homens. Vemos a complementariedade entre as duas Alianças e vemos também em Maria a essência da missão evangelizadora: levar Jesus a todas as pessoas para que possam reconhecê-lo e acolhê-lo. CNBB

Reflecting 
We see in today's Gospel the meeting of two women who are pregnant without it was possible. On the other hand, Isabel, elderly and barren, and another Mary, Virgin. The old woman representing the old testament, because it will be the mother of the last Prophet of the old Covenant. The Virgin representing the New Testament, because it will be the mother of the one in your blood will seal the new and everlasting Covenant between God and men. We see the complementarity between the two alliances and we also see in Mary the essence of evangelizing mission: to bring Jesus to all people so that they can recognize it and embrace it. CNBB
