24/3 🇧🇷Evangelho do dia 🇺🇸Gospel of the day

“Levanta-te, pega a tua cama e anda”.
"Get up, get your bed and walk".

Evangelho

Gospel
Glory to you, Lord Jesus, / firstborn from the dead! Create in me a heart that is pure, / give me the joy of being saved again! (Ps 50,12,14) - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 5,1-16 - 1There was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went to Jerusalem. 2There is a pool with five porches in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, called Bethesda in Hebrew. 3Many sick lay there: blind, lame and paralyzed. 4Actually, an angel would come down from time to time and move the water in the pool, and the first patient to enter there, after the bubbling water, would be cured of any illness he had. 5There was a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6Jesus saw the man lying down and, knowing he had been sick for so long, said to him, "Do you want to be healed?" 7The patient replied: “Sir, I have no one to take me to the pool when the water is rough. When I'm arriving, another one comes in front of me ”. 8Jesus said, "Get up, get your bed and walk." 9In the same instant, the man was healed, took his bed and started walking. Now, that day was a Saturday. 10 Therefore, the Jews said to the man who had been healed: “It's Saturday! You are not allowed to carry your bed ”. 11He replied, "The one who healed me said, 'Take your bed and walk'." 12Then they asked him: "Who said to you, 'Take your bed and walk'?" 13The man who had been healed did not know who he was, for Jesus had turned away from the crowd in that place. 14 Later, Jesus found the man in the temple and said to him: “Behold, you are healed. Do not sin again, lest something worse happen to you ”. 15Then the man went out and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16 Therefore, the Jews began to persecute Jesus, because he did such things on the Sabbath day. - Word of salvation.

Reflection
"Do you want to get well?" It is only possible to help those who allow to be helped. Jesus' command reveals compassion and effectiveness (v. 8). The man walked away. So far, no problems. The trouble starts because the cure takes place on Saturday. They cannot accept the goodness of the Lord, who brings health, new life and happiness back to a person who has been a prisoner of illness all the time.
