🇧🇷 Evangelho do Dia 21/03/2018 🇺🇸 Daily Gospel 03/21/2018

Todo aquele que comete pecado é escravo do pecado.
Everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.

Evangelho -

41Vós fazeis as obras do vosso pai”.

Gospel - John 8,31-42
Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ according to John - At that time, Jesus told the Jews who believed in him: "If you continue in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." 33 They answered, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be free?' "34 Jesus answered," Most assuredly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35The slave does not remain in a family forever, but the son abides in it for ever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free. 37I know that you are the descendants of Abraham; but you seek to kill me, because my word is not accepted by you. 38I speak what I have seen with the Father; and you do what you have heard from your father. " 39They answered, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you are children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham! But now you are trying to kill me, for I have told you the truth that I heard from God. This, Abraham did not. 41 You do the deeds of your father. " They said to him, "We are not born of adultery, we have but one father: God." 42Jesus answered them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I went out and came from God. I did not come by myself, but he sent me. " - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Reflecting the Gospel
Jesus invites the Jews who believed in him to remain faithful. For they are still so closed in their institutions and traditions that they have real difficulty in accepting the Son of God, who came precisely to fulfill what the Law and the Prophets proclaimed concerning him. The debate unfolds in three moments: in the first, the Jews claim to be Abraham's offspring and have never been slaves to anyone. Jesus responds that they are slaves of the sin of wanting to kill him, because his word did not penetrate them. In the second, Jesus denies that they are children of Abraham, because they do not do the works of Abraham (to believe), but they want to kill him by telling them the truth. In the third moment, the Jews claim to have God for the Father. Jesus contests: if this were true, they should love also that which comes from the Father and returns to the Father.
