And the blind man came to see clearly.

Leitura do livro do Gênesis 8,6-13.20-22 – 6Passados quarenta dias, Noé abriu a janela, que tinha feito na arca, e soltou um corvo, 7que ficou revoando até que secassem as águas sobre a terra. 8Soltou, também, uma pomba para ver se as águas tinham baixado sobre a face da terra. 9Mas a pomba, não achando onde pousar, voltou para junto dele na arca; porque as águas ainda cobriam a superfície de toda a terra. Noé estendeu a mão para fora, apanhou a pomba e recolheu-a na arca. 10Esperou, então, mais sete dias e soltou de novo a pomba. 11Pela tardinha ela voltou e eis que trazia no bico um ramo de oliveira com as folhas verdes. Assim, Noé compreendeu que as águas tinham cessado de cobrir a terra. 12Esperou ainda sete dias e soltou a pomba, que não voltou mais. 13Foi no ano seiscentos e um da vida de Noé, no primeiro dia do primeiro mês, que as águas se retiraram da terra. Noé abriu o teto da arca, olhou e viu que toda a superfície da terra estava seca. 20Então Noé construiu um altar ao Senhor e, tomando animais e aves de todas as espécies puras, ofereceu holocaustos sobre o altar. 21O Senhor aspirou o agradável odor e disse consigo mesmo: “Nunca mais tornarei a amaldiçoar a terra por causa do homem, pois as inclinações do seu coração são más desde a juventude. Não tornarei, também, a ferir todos os seres vivos, como fiz. 22Enquanto a terra durar, plantio e colheita, frio e calor, verão e inverno, dia e noite jamais hão de acabar”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading from the book of Genesis 8,6-13.20-22 – 6After forty days, Noah opened the window which he had made in the ark, and let loose a raven, 7 and it rolled away until the waters were dried up on the earth. 8And he returned a dove to see if the waters had come down on the face of the earth. 9But the dove, not finding where to land, returned to him in the ark; because the waters still covered the surface of the whole earth. Noah reached out, picked up the dove, and gathered it into the ark. 10 Then he waited seven more days and let the dove go again. 11And in the evening she came again, and behold, she had in her beak an olive branch with green leaves. So Noah understood that the waters had ceased to cover the earth. 12 And he tarried for seven days, and let go of the dove, and he came not again. 13And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year of the life of Noah, on the first day of the first month, that the waters departed from the land. Noah opened the roof of the ark, looked and saw that the whole surface of the earth was dry. 20And Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took animals and birds of every kind, and offered burnt offerings upon the altar. 21The Lord breathed in the pleasant odor and said to himself, "I will never again curse the earth for man's sake, for the inclinations of his heart are more from youth. I will not, as I have done, hurt all living beings. 22 While the earth lasts, planting and harvesting, cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night shall never end. - Word of the Lord.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos 8,22-26 – Naquele tempo, 22Jesus e seus discípulos chegaram a Betsaida. Algumas pessoas trouxeram-lhe um cego e pediram a Jesus que tocasse nele. 23Jesus pegou o cego pela mão, levou-o para fora do povoado, cuspiu nos olhos dele, colocou as mãos sobre ele e perguntou: “Estás vendo alguma coisa?” 24O homem levantou os olhos e disse: “Estou vendo os homens. Eles parecem árvores que andam”. 25Então Jesus colocou de novo as mãos sobre os olhos dele, e ele passou a enxergar claramente. Ficou curado e enxergava todas as coisas com nitidez. 26Jesus mandou o homem ir para casa e lhe disse: “Não entres no povoado!” – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 8: 22-26 - At that time, Jesus and his disciples came to Bethsaida. Some people brought him a blind man and asked Jesus to touch him. 23Jesus took the blind man by the hand, led him out of the village, spat in his eyes, put his hands on him and asked, "Do you see anything?" The man looked up and said, "I see men. They look like walking trees. " 25Then Jesus laid his hands upon his eyes again, and he saw clearly. He was cured and saw all things clearly. 26Jesus told the man to go home and said, "Do not enter the village!" - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

O cego é figura dos discípulos que, apesar de terem visto os inúmeros sinais realizados por Jesus, continuam com a ideia fixa de um Messias nacionalista, dominador dos povos. Não entendem a prática de Jesus; não sabem quem ele é. Esse episódio, exclusivo de Marcos, torna-se um símbolo do que Jesus fará doravante com seus discípulos. Vai conduzi-los e levá-los a ter compreensão correta de sua pessoa e de sua missão. Jesus realiza a cura do cego em dois atos. No primeiro, o cego ainda vê de modo confuso; só depois do segundo ato é que ele vê claramente. À medida que os discípulos compreendem com clareza quem é Jesus, poderão aderir a ele e a seu projeto com mais consciência e liberdade. Sua adesão será então autêntica resposta de amor.

Reflecting the Gospel 

The blind man is a figure of the disciples who, although they have seen the numerous signs that Jesus carried out, continue with the fixed idea of a nationalistic Messiah, dominating the peoples. They do not understand the practice of Jesus; they do not know who he is. This episode, unique to Mark, becomes a symbol of what Jesus will do from now on with his disciples. It will lead them and lead them to a correct understanding of their person and mission. Jesus accomplishes the healing of the blind in two acts. In the first, the blind man still sees in a confused way; only after the second act does he see clearly. As the disciples clearly understand who Jesus is, they will be able to join him and his project with greater awareness and freedom. Your adherence will then be authentic love response.
