Leitura dos Atos dos Apóstolos 22,3-16 – Naqueles dias, Paulo disse ao povo: 3“Eu sou judeu, nascido em Tarso da Cilícia, mas fui criado aqui nesta cidade. Como discípulo de Gamaliel, fui instruído em todo o rigor da lei de nossos antepassados, tornando-me zeloso da causa de Deus, como acontece hoje convosco. 4Persegui até a morte os que seguiam esse caminho, prendendo homens e mulheres e jogando-os na prisão. 5Disso são minhas testemunhas o sumo sacerdote e todo o conselho dos anciãos. Eles deram-me cartas de recomendação para os irmãos de Damasco. Fui para lá a fim de prender todos os que encontrasse e trazê-los para Jerusalém, a fim de serem castigados. 6Ora, aconteceu que, na viagem, estando já perto de Damasco, pelo meio-dia, de repente uma grande luz que vinha do céu brilhou ao redor de mim. 7Caí por terra e ouvi uma voz que me dizia: ‘Saulo, Saulo, por que me persegues?’ 8Eu perguntei: ‘Quem és tu, Senhor?’ Ele me respondeu: ‘Eu sou Jesus, o Nazareno, a quem tu estás perseguindo’. 9Meus companheiros viram a luz, mas não ouviram a voz que me falava. 10Então perguntei: ‘Que devo fazer, Senhor?’ O Senhor me respondeu: ‘Levanta-te e vai para Damasco. Ali te explicarão tudo o que deves fazer’. 11Como eu não podia enxergar, por causa do brilho daquela luz, cheguei a Damasco guiado pelas mãos dos meus companheiros. 12Um certo Ananias, homem piedoso e fiel à lei, com boa reputação junto de todos os judeus que aí moravam, 13veio encontrar-me e disse: ‘Saulo, meu irmão, recupera a vista!’ No mesmo instante, recuperei a vista e pude vê-lo. 14Ele, então, me disse: ‘O Deus de nossos antepassados escolheu-te para conheceres a sua vontade, veres o Justo e ouvires a sua própria voz. 15Porque tu serás a sua testemunha, diante de todos os homens, daquilo que viste e ouviste. 16E agora, o que estás esperando? Levanta-te, recebe o batismo e purifica-te dos teus pecados, invocando o nome dele!’” – Palavra do Senhor.

Read Acts 22: 13-16 - In those days Paul told the people: "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but I was raised here in this city. As a disciple of Gamaliel, I was instructed in all the rigor of the law of our ancestors, becoming zealous of the cause of God, as it is with you this day. 4I kept to death those who followed this way, arresting men and women and throwing them into prison. 5 These are my witnesses the high priest and all the counsel of the elders. They gave me letters of recommendation to the brothers of Damascus. I went there to arrest all that I found and to bring them to Jerusalem to be punished. 6And it came to pass on the journey, when I was near Damascus by noon, that suddenly a great light which came from the sky shone round about me. 7And I heard a voice saying to me, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" 8I asked, "Who are you, Lord?" He answered me, "I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting. '. 9 My companions saw the light, but they did not hear the voice that spoke to me. 10And I said, What shall I do, Lord? The Lord said to me, Arise, and go to Damascus. There they will explain everything to you what to do. ' 11As I could not see, because of the brightness of that light, I came to Damascus, guided by the hands of my companions. 12A certain Ananias, a godly man, and faithful to the law, having a good reputation with all the Jews who lived there, 13 came to me and said, "Saul, my brother, recover your sight!" Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos 16,15-18 – Naquele tempo, Jesus se manifestou aos onze discípulos 15e disse-lhes: “Ide pelo mundo inteiro e anunciai o evangelho a toda criatura! 16Quem crer e for batizado será salvo. Quem não crer será condenado. 17Os sinais que acompanharão aqueles que crerem serão estes: expulsarão demônios em meu nome, falarão novas línguas; 18se pegarem em serpentes ou beberem algum veneno mortal, não lhes fará mal algum; quando impuserem as mãos sobre os doentes, eles ficarão curados”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel 

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 16, 15-18 - At that time Jesus spoke to the eleven disciples and said to them: "Go into the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature! 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved. Whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 The signs that will accompany those who believe will be these: they will cast out demons in my name, they will speak new tongues; If they take snakes or drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; when they lay their hands on the sick, they shall be healed. " - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Paulo vinha sendo preparado por Deus para ser uma grande força na compreensão e expansão do cristianismo. Formado nas Sagradas Escrituras, nutria grande zelo pela religião dos seus antepassados. Era tão aplicado na consolidação do judaísmo, que se tornou feroz perseguidor dos cristãos. Foi com esse homem que Jesus teve encontro histórico na estrada de Damasco. Paulo não viu Jesus, mas foi atingido por ofuscante luz, enquanto uma voz lhe perguntava: “Por que me persegues?” Uma pergunta espera resposta, explicação, decisão. Paulo também indaga: “Quem és tu?”. “Eu sou Jesus”, esclarece a voz. A partir desse diálogo, Paulo assume novo modo de vida (conversão) e dedicação sem reservas a Jesus Cristo. Por seu testemunho de vida e suas cartas, sua palavra continua a ressoar no mundo inteiro.

Reflecting the Gospel 

Paul was being prepared by God to be a great force in the understanding and expansion of Christianity. Formed in the Holy Scriptures, he had great zeal for the religion of his ancestors. It was so applied in the consolidation of Judaism that it became fierce persecutor of Christians. It was with this man that Jesus had a historical meeting on the road to Damascus. Paul did not see Jesus, but was struck by dazzling light, while a voice asked him, "Why do you persecute me?" A question awaits answer, explanation, decision. Paul also asks: "Who are you?". "I am Jesus," clarifies the voice. From this dialogue, Paul assumes a new way of life (conversion) and unreserved dedication to Jesus Christ. By his testimony of life and his letters, his word continues to resonate throughout the world.
