1a. Leitura

Leitura da carta aos Hebreus 4,1-5.11 – Irmãos, 1tenhamos cuidado: enquanto nos é oferecida a oportunidade de entrar no repouso de Deus, não aconteça que alguém de vós fique para trás. 2Também nós, como eles, recebemos uma boa-nova. Mas a proclamação da palavra de nada lhes adiantou, por não ter sido acompanhada da fé naqueles que a tinham ouvido, 3enquanto nós, que acreditamos, entramos no seu repouso. É assim como ele falou: “Por isso jurei na minha ira: jamais entrarão no meu repouso”. Isso, não obstante as obras de Deus estarem terminadas desde a criação do mundo. 4Pois, em certos lugares, assim falou do sétimo dia: “E Deus repousou no sétimo dia de todas as suas obras”, 5e ainda novamente: “Não entrarão no meu repouso”. 11Esforcemo-nos, portanto, por entrar nesse repouso, para que ninguém repita o acima referido exemplo de desobediência. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading the Letter to the Hebrews 4: 1-5.11 - Brethren, let us be careful: while we are offered the opportunity to enter into the rest of God, let not one of you be left behind. 2But we, like them, have received a good news. But the proclamation of the word was of no avail, because it was not accompanied by faith in those who had heard it, 3 while we, who believe, have entered into their rest. This is how he said: "Therefore I have sworn in mine anger: they shall not enter into my rest." This, even though the works of God have been completed since the creation of the world. 4 For in certain places he thus spoke of the seventh day, "And God rested on the seventh day of all his works," 5and yet again, "They shall not enter into my rest." Let us, therefore, strive to enter into this repose so that no one repeats the above-mentioned example of disobedience. - Word of the Lord.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos 2,1-12 – 1Alguns dias depois, Jesus entrou de novo em Cafarnaum. Logo se espalhou a notícia de que ele estava em casa. 2E reuniram-se ali tantas pessoas, que já não havia lugar nem mesmo diante da porta. E Jesus anunciava-lhes a Palavra. 3Trouxeram-lhe, então, um paralítico, carregado por quatro homens. 4Mas não conseguindo chegar até Jesus, por causa da multidão, abriram então o teto, bem em cima do lugar onde ele se encontrava. Por essa abertura desceram a cama em que o paralítico estava deitado. 5Quando viu a fé daqueles homens, Jesus disse ao paralítico: “Filho, os teus pecados estão perdoados”. 6Ora, alguns mestres da lei, que estavam ali sentados, refletiam em seus corações: 7“Como este homem pode falar assim? Ele está blasfemando: ninguém pode perdoar pecados, a não ser Deus”. 8Jesus percebeu logo o que eles estavam pensando no seu íntimo e disse: “Por que pensais assim em vossos corações? 9O que é mais fácil, dizer ao paralítico: ‘Os teus pecados estão perdoados’ ou dizer: ‘Levanta-te, pega a tua cama e anda’? 10Pois bem, para que saibais que o Filho do homem tem, na terra, poder de perdoar pecados – disse ele ao paralítico –, 11eu te ordeno: levanta-te, pega tua cama e vai para tua casa!” 12O paralítico então se levantou e, carregando a sua cama, saiu diante de todos. E ficaram todos admirados e louvavam a Deus, dizendo: “Nunca vimos uma coisa assim”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel 

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 2: 1-12 - 1Some days later Jesus entered Capernaum again. Soon word spread that he was home. 2And there were gathered so many people there that there was no place even before the door. And Jesus preached the Word to them. 3And they brought him a paralytic, carried by four men. But when they could not get to Jesus, because of the multitude, they opened the roof over the place where he was. Through this opening they went down the bed where the paralytic lay. 5When he saw the faith of those men, Jesus said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." 6 Some teachers of the law who were sitting there reflected in their hearts: 7 "How can this man speak thus? He is blaspheming: no one can forgive sins but God. " 8Jesus soon realized what they were thinking in their hearts and said, "Why do you think so in your hearts? What is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Thy sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Arise, take up thy bed, and walk'? 10 So that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, "he said to the paralytic," I will command you to get up and take your bed and go to your house. " and, carrying his bed, went out before them all. And they were all amazed and praised to God, saying, "We have never seen such a thing." - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Multidões se aproximam para ouvir Jesus. Neste episódio, são tantas as pessoas na casa, que lançam mão de algo inédito para colocar um paralítico aos pés de Jesus. O esforço dos quatro homens da maca demonstra solidariedade com o enfermo e fé no poder de Deus. Os quatro carregadores, figura dos quatro pontos cardeais, representam aqui as pessoas de todas as partes do mundo. Com sua palavra poderosa, o Filho do Homem perdoa os pecados do paralítico e o faz caminhar. Esse gesto de salvação integral (cura espiritual e física) provoca a indignação de alguns doutores da Lei: “Está blasfemando! Quem pode perdoar pecados, senão Deus?”. Entretanto, acima de tudo, o fato leva as pessoas a glorificarem o Senhor: “Ficaram todos admirados e glorificavam a Deus, dizendo: ‘Nunca vimos coisa assim!’”

Reflecting the Gospel 

Multitudes come to hear Jesus. In this episode, there are so many people in the house, who use something new to put a paralytic at the feet of Jesus. The effort of the four men of the litter demonstrates solidarity with the sick and faith in the power of God. The four carriers, the figure of the four cardinal points, represent people here from all over the world. With his powerful word, the Son of Man forgives the sins of the paralytic and causes him to walk. This gesture of integral salvation (spiritual and physical healing) provokes the indignation of some doctors of the Law: "You are blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God? " But above all, the fact leads people to glorify the Lord: "They were all amazed and glorified God, saying, 'We have never seen such a thing!'"

Tudo aquilo que ouvimos e aprendemos, / e transmitiram para nós os nossos pais, / à nova geração nós contaremos: / as grandezas do Senhor e seu poder.
Levantem-se e as contem a seus filhos, / para que ponham no Senhor sua esperança; / das obras do Senhor não se esqueçam / e observem fielmente os seus preceitos.

Do not forget the works of the Lord!
All that we have heard and learned, and have transmitted our fathers to us, / to the new generation we shall tell: / the greatness of the Lord and his power.
Rise up and tell your children, / that they may put their hope in the Lord; / Do not forget the works of the Lord / and observe his precepts faithfully.
Do not become, like your parents, rebellious and stubborn generation, a race of fickle heart, unfaithful to the Lord God in your spirit.
