Eis meu Filho muito amado, / nele está meu bem-querer, / escutai-o, todos vós! (Mt 17,5). – Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 17,1-9 – Naquele tempo, 1Jesus tomou consigo Pedro, Tiago e João, seu irmão, e os levou a um lugar à parte, sobre uma alta montanha. 2E foi transfigurado diante deles; o seu rosto brilhou como o sol, e as suas roupas ficaram brancas como a luz. 3Nisto apareceram-lhes Moisés e Elias, conversando com Jesus. 4Então Pedro tomou a palavra e disse: “Senhor, é bom ficarmos aqui. Se queres, vou fazer aqui três tendas: uma para ti, outra para Moisés e outra para Elias”. 5Pedro ainda estava falando quando uma nuvem luminosa os cobriu com sua sombra. E da nuvem uma voz dizia: “Este é o meu Filho amado, no qual eu pus todo meu agrado. Escutai-o!” 6Quando ouviram isso, os discípulos ficaram muito assustados e caíram com o rosto em terra. 7Jesus se aproximou, tocou neles e disse: “Levantai-vos e não tenhais medo”. 8Os discípulos ergueram os olhos e não viram mais ninguém, a não ser somente Jesus. 9Quando desciam da montanha, Jesus ordenou-lhes: “Não conteis a ninguém esta visão até que o Filho do Homem tenha ressuscitado dos mortos”. – Palavra da salvação.

Here is my beloved Son, / my good will is in him, / listen to him, all of you! (Mt 17.5). - Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 17,1-9 - At that time, 1Jesus took Peter, James and John, his brother, with him, and took them to a separate place, on a high mountain. 2E was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3And Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking to Jesus. 4Then Peter took the floor and said, “Lord, it is good for us to stay here. If you want, I will make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah ”. 5Peter was still speaking when a luminous cloud covered them with his shadow. And from the cloud a voice said: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I have given all my pleasure. Listen to him!” 6When they heard this, the disciples were very frightened and fell on their faces. 7Jesus came up, touched them and said: "Get up and do not be afraid". 8The disciples looked up and saw no one but Jesus. 9When they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them: "Do not tell anyone this vision until the Son of Man is risen from the dead." - Word of salvation.
Reflection
Junto com Pedro, Tiago e João, Jesus sobe a montanha e lá se transfigura (transforma) diante deles. O Mestre aparece na sua glória (seu rosto brilha e suas roupas ficam brancas) e se mostra vitorioso contra as forças do mal. Da nuvem sai a confirmação de que Jesus é o Filho amado de Deus. É necessário ouvi-lo, pois ele revela o projeto de seu Pai.
Reflection
Together with Peter, James and John, Jesus climbs the mountain and is transfigured (transformed) there before them. The Master appears in his glory (his face shines and his clothes turn white) and he is victorious against the forces of evil. From the cloud comes confirmation that Jesus is the beloved Son of God. It is necessary to listen to him, for he reveals his Father's project.
