Leitura do livro do Êxodo – Naqueles dias, 16 Moisés fez tudo o que o Senhor lhe havia ordenado. 17 No primeiro mês do segundo ano, no primeiro dia do mês, o santuário foi levantado. 18 Moisés levantou o santuário, colocou as bases e as tábuas, assentou as vigas e ergueu as colunas. 19 Estendeu a tenda sobre o santuário, pondo em cima a cobertura da tenda, como o Senhor lhe havia mandado. 20 Depois, tomando o documento da aliança, depositou-o dentro da arca e colocou sobre ela o propiciatório. 21 E, introduzindo a arca no santuário, pendurou diante dela o véu de proteção, como o Senhor tinha prescrito a Moisés. 34 Então a nuvem cobriu a tenda da reunião e a glória do Senhor encheu o santuário. 35 Moisés não podia entrar na tenda da reunião, porque a nuvem permanecia sobre ela, e a glória do Senhor tomava todo o santuário. 36 Em todas as etapas da viagem, sempre que a nuvem se elevava de cima do santuário, os filhos de Israel punham-se a caminho; 37 e nunca partiam antes que a nuvem se levantasse. 38 Pois, de dia, a nuvem do Senhor repousava sobre o santuário e, de noite, aparecia sobre ele um fogo que todos os filhos de Israel viam, em todas as suas etapas. – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus à multidão: 47 “O reino dos céus é ainda como uma rede lançada ao mar e que apanha peixes de todo tipo. 48 Quando está cheia, os pescadores puxam a rede para a praia, sentam-se e recolhem os peixes bons em cestos e jogam fora os que não prestam. 49 Assim acontecerá no fim dos tempos: os anjos virão para separar os homens maus dos que são justos 50 e lançarão os maus na fornalha de fogo. E aí haverá choro e ranger de dentes. 51 Compreendestes tudo isso?” Eles responderam: “Sim”. 52 Então Jesus acrescentou: “Assim, pois, todo mestre da lei que se torna discípulo do reino dos céus é como um pai de família que tira do seu tesouro coisas novas e velhas”. 53 Quando Jesus terminou de contar essas parábolas, partiu dali. – Palavra da salvação.

A parábola da rede que apanha todo tipo de peixes é uma advertência séria: Deus é paciente, cabe a cada um decidir ser discípulo fiel de Jesus e comprometido com o Reino dos Céus. É prudente fazer da própria vida uma constante doação a serviço do próximo. Aos discípulos, instruídos sobre o “Reino dos Céus”, Jesus convida a serem sábios: não desprezar o passado, o Antigo Testamento, mas em cima do passado construir o presente, a nova comunidade de Cristo, a Igreja. Um lembrete para os cristãos de hoje: não se podem ignorar dois mil anos de história do cristianismo. Afinal, a Igreja atual se consolida e se fortalece sobre as bases assentadas ao longo dos séculos e em toda parte, à custa da multidão de testemunhas fiéis a Jesus Cristo, dentre elas uma fileira incontável de mártires.
