“Arrependam-se, porque o Reino de Deus está próximo.”

"Repent, because the Kingdom of God is near." 

João Batista tinha-nos garantido que depois dele viria alguém superior a ele. Eis que de Nazaré vem Jesus. Deixa sua cidade e desloca- se para Cafarnaum. O povo desse lugar “viu uma grande luz”. A luz é a presença de Jesus que inaugura o Reino de Deus, com palavras de ordem: “Arrependam-se, porque o Reino de Deus está próximo”. Os sinais da presença do Reino são visíveis, e os que se abrem ao anúncio de Jesus podem usufruir de seus gestos: ele cura diversas enfermidades e expulsa demônios. O Messias causa verdadeira reviravolta não apenas onde desenvolve sua missão, mas também atraindo multidões dos lugares mais distantes.

John the Baptist had assured us that after him someone superior to him would come. Bebethat jesus comes from Nazareth. Leave your city and travel to Capernaum. The people of this place "saw a great light." Light is the presence of Jesus who inaugurates the Kingdom of God, with words of order: "Repent, because the Kingdom of God is near." The signs of the presence of the Kingdom are visible, and those who open themselves to Jesus' proclamation can enjoy his gestures: he heals various infirmities and casts out demons. The Messiah causes real turnaround not only where he develops his mission, but also attracting crowds from the farthest places.

Leitura da primeira carta de são João 3,22-4,6 – Caríssimos, 22qualquer coisa que pedimos recebemos dele, porque guardamos os seus mandamentos e fazemos o que é do seu agrado. 23Este é o seu mandamento: que creiamos no nome do seu Filho, Jesus Cristo, e nos amemos uns aos outros, de acordo com o mandamento que ele nos deu. 24Quem guarda os seus mandamentos permanece com Deus e Deus permanece com ele. Que ele permanece conosco, sabemo-lo pelo Espírito que ele nos deu. 4,1Caríssimos, não acrediteis em qualquer espírito, mas examinai os espíritos para ver se são de Deus, pois muitos falsos profetas vieram ao mundo. 2Este é o critério para saber se uma inspiração vem de Deus: todo espírito que leva a professar que Jesus Cristo veio na carne é de Deus; 3e todo espírito que não professa a fé em Jesus não é de Deus – é o espírito do anticristo. Ouvistes dizer que o anticristo virá; pois bem, ele já está no mundo. 4Filhinhos, vós sois de Deus e vós vencestes o anticristo. Pois convosco está quem é maior do que aquele que está no mundo. 5Os vossos adversários são do mundo; por isso, agem conforme o mundo, e o mundo lhes presta ouvidos. 6Nós somos de Deus. Quem conhece a Deus escuta-nos; quem não é de Deus não nos escuta. Nisto reconhecemos o espírito da verdade e o espírito do erro. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading 

Reading the first letter of St. John 3,22-4,6 – Dear, 22anything we ask we received from him, because we keep his commandments and do what is to his liking. 23This is his commandment: may we believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and we love one another, according to the commandment he has given us. 24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains with God and God remains with him. That he stays with us, we know him by the Spirit he gave us. 4,1 Dear, do not believe in any spirit, but examine the spirits to see if they are from God, for many false prophets have come into the world. 2This is the criterion for whether an inspiration comes from God: every spirit that leads us to profess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is from God; 3and every spirit that does not profess faith in Jesus is not of God – it is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that the antichrist will come; well, he's already in the world. 4Little ones, you are of God and you have overcome the antichrist. For with you is who is bigger than the one in the world. 5Your adversaries are of the world; therefore act according to the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God. Who knows God listens to us; who is not of God does not listen to us. In this we recognize the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. " Word of the Lord.

Eu te darei por tua herança os povos todos. 1. O decreto do Senhor promulgarei, † foi assim que me falou o Senhor Deus: / “Tu és meu Filho, e eu hoje te gerei!” / Podes pedir-me, e em resposta eu te darei, † por tua herança, os povos todos e as nações, / e há de ser a terra inteira o teu domínio. 2. E agora, poderosos, entendei; / soberanos, aprendei esta lição: / com temor servi a Deus, rendei-lhe glória / e prestai-lhe homenagem com respeito!

Evangelho

Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia. Jesus pregava a Boa-nova, o Reino anunciando, / e curava toda espécie de doenças entre o povo (Mt 4,23). Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, 12ao saber que João tinha sido preso, Jesus voltou para a Galileia. 13Deixou Nazaré e foi morar em Cafarnaum, que fica às margens do mar da Galileia, 14no território de Zabulon e ­­Neftali, para se cumprir o que foi dito pelo profeta Isaías: 15“Terra de Zabulon, terra de Neftali, caminho do mar, região do outro lado do rio Jordão, Galileia dos pagãos! 16O povo que vivia nas trevas viu uma grande luz; e para os que viviam na região escura da morte brilhou uma luz”. 17Daí em diante, Jesus começou a pregar, dizendo: “Convertei-vos, porque o reino dos céus está próximo”. 23Jesus andava por toda a Galileia, ensinando em suas sinagogas, pregando o evangelho do reino e curando todo tipo de doença e enfermidade do povo. 24E sua fama espalhou-se por toda a Síria. Levavam-lhe todos os doentes, que sofriam diversas enfermidades e tormentos: endemoninhados, epiléticos e paralíticos. E Jesus os curava. 25Numerosas multidões o seguiam, vindas da Galileia, da Decápole, de Jerusalém, da Judeia e da região além do Jordão. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Jesus preached the Good News, the Kingdom proclaiming, / and cured all kinds of diseases among the people (Mt 4,23). Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew – At that time, 12 when he knew that John had been imprisoned, Jesus returned to Galilee. 13He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernanaum, which lies on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, 14in the territory of Zabulon and Neftali, to fulfill what was said by the prophet Isaiah: 15"Land of Zabulon, land of Neftali, path of the sea, region on the other side of the Jordan River, Galilee of the pagans! 16The people who lived in darkness saw a great light; and for those who lived in the dark region of death shone a light." 17Then Jesus began to preach, saying, "Convert, for the kingdom of heaven is near." 23Jesus walked throughout Galilee, teaching in his synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and disease of the people. 24And his fame spread throughout Syria.
