One thing is necessary.
Jesus é recebido na casa de suas amigas Marta e Maria. Marta acolhe o Senhor e está atarefada em servi-lo; Maria se coloca à escuta da palavra do Mestre. Muitos viram, nesse episódio, dois estilos de vida: vida ativa (Marta) e vida contemplativa (Maria). No tempo de Jesus, as mulheres não podiam sentar aos pés de algum rabino para escutar sua palavra. Jesus quebra esse preconceito contra as mulheres; por isso aceita Maria aos seus pés, a qual se torna modelo de discipulado, acolhendo e vivendo a palavra. Acolher a Palavra (contemplação), na Bíblia, é justamente para pô-la em prática (ação), como faz Marta, que se colocou a serviço. Logo à frente, Lucas dirá: “Felizes os que ouvem a Palavra de Deus e a põem em prática” (Lc 11,28). A escuta da Palavra de Deus não tira as pessoas da ação; mas procura dar novo sentido ao fazer. Em cada um de nós existe um pouco de Marta e um pouco de Maria.

Eles responderam: “Faze como disseste”. 6Abraão entrou logo na tenda, onde estava Sara, e lhe disse: “Toma depressa três medidas da mais fina farinha, amassa alguns pães e assa-os”. 7Depois, Abraão correu até o rebanho, pegou um bezerro dos mais tenros e melhores e deu-o a um criado, para que o preparasse sem demora. 8A seguir, foi buscar coalhada, leite e o bezerro assado e pôs tudo diante deles. Abraão, porém, permaneceu de pé, junto deles, debaixo da árvore, enquanto comiam. 9E eles lhe perguntaram: “Onde está Sara, tua mulher?” “Está na tenda”, respondeu ele. 10E um deles disse: “Voltarei, sem falta, no ano que vem, por este tempo, e Sara, tua mulher, já terá um filho”. – Palavra do Senhor.
