“Eu quero: fica curado!”

"I will: be healed!"

1a. Leitura - 1 Samuel 4,1-11
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - 1 Samuel 4,1-11
Read the book of Samuel - 1 In those days the Philistines assembled to make war with Israel. Israel went out to meet the Philistines, encamped near Eben-Ezer, and the Philistines went to Aphibel, and encamped in front of Israel. When the battle was fought, Israel was defeated by the Philistines. And about four thousand men died in that battle in the open country. 3The people returned to the camp and the elders of Israel said, "Why did the Lord do that we were defeated by the Philistines today? Let us go to Shiloh, seek an ark of the covenant of the Lord, that it may be in the midst of us and save us from our hands of our enemies. " 4And the people sent the people of Shiloh, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which sat on the cherubims. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, accompanied the ark. 5And when an ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the camp, all Israel broke into a great cry, which resounded throughout the land. 6The Philistines, hearing this, said, "What noise is so great, not the field of the Hebrews?" And they knew that the ark of the Lord had come to the camp. 7The Philistines were afraid and said, "God has come to the camp!" And they mourned: 8 "Woe to us, for the Hebrews are not found with this joy, neither yesterday nor the day before." "Woe to us, who will save us out of the hand of such mighty gods? 9 But courage, Philistines, bear yourselves as men, for you are not a slaves of the Hebrew slaves as they were of you! Be men and fight! "10Then the Philistines launched the fight, Israel was defeated and every one fled to his tent. The slaughter was great: on the side of Israel fell thirty thousand men. 11And the ark of God was captured, and they died of the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas. Word of the Lord.

Evangelho - Marcos 1,40-45

Gospel - Marcos 1,40-45
Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ According to Mark - At that time a leper came near Jesus and on his knees asked: "If you wish, you have the power to heal me." 41Jesus, full of compassion, stretched out his hand, touched him and said, "I will: be healed!" 42At the very moment the leprosy disappeared and he was healed. 43Then Jesus sent him away, speaking firmly, "Do not tell anybody about this! Go, show yourself to the priest and offer, for your cleansing, what Moses commanded, as proof to them! "45He went and began to tell and spread the fact much. That is why Jesus could no longer enter publicly into a city: he was out in deserted places. And everywhere they came to him. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Reflecting the Gospel
Why is Jesus "angry" in welcoming the leper? Jesus is outraged by society which, in addition to not healing the lepers, keeps them away from social life and religious worship. According to the mentality of the time, the leper is considered impure and excluded from the Kingdom of God. Jesus, on the other hand, has the will ("I want" him) to restore his health ("purify himself") and reintegrate him into social and religious coexistence. The kingdom of God does not exclude anyone from salvation. God welcomes all, not only those who fulfill certain conditions of physical or ritual purity. Why does Jesus ask the healed man not to divulge the fact? Because he has just taken public stand against marginalization and against the Law that prescribes it; wants to prevent the authorities from removing it from circulation, since its fame has spread everywhere.

Rezando
Salmo 43/44.

Praying
But now ye have forsaken us, and have humbled us; and ye go not forth with our troops to war. / You brought us back to the enemy, / the opponents plundered us at will. Thou hast made the mockery of the neighbors, / mockery and mockery of those about us; / to the heathens we are motives of anecdotes, / mock us to shake their heads. Arise, O Lord, why do you sleep? / Wake up! Do not leave us forever! / Why are you hiding your face / and forget our oppression, our misery? Psalm 43/44.
