1a. Leitura - 1 Macabeus 2,15-29

Leitura do primeiro livro dos Macabeus – Naqueles dias, ¹⁵ os delegados do rei Antíoco, encarregados de obrigar os judeus à apostasia, chegaram à cidade de Modin para organizar os sacrifícios. ¹⁶ Muitos israelitas aproximaram-se deles, mas Matatias e seus filhos ficaram juntos, à parte. ¹⁷ Tomando a palavra, os delegados do rei dirigiram-se a Matatias, dizendo: “Tu és um chefe de fama e prestígio na cidade, apoiado por filhos e irmãos. ¹⁸ Sê o primeiro a aproximar-te e executa a ordem do rei, como fizeram todas as nações, os homens de Judá e os que ficaram em Jerusalém. Tu e teus filhos sereis contados entre os amigos do rei. E sereis honrados, tu e teus filhos, com prata e ouro e numerosos presentes”. ¹⁹ Com voz forte, Matatias respondeu: “Ainda que todas as nações, incorporadas no império do rei, passem a obedecer-lhe, abandonando a religião de seus antepassados e submetendo-se aos decretos reais, ²⁰ eu, meus filhos e meus irmãos continuaremos seguindo a aliança de nossos pais. ²¹ Deus nos guarde de abandonarmos sua lei e seus mandamentos. ²² Não atenderemos às ordens do rei e não nos desviaremos de nossa religião nem para a direita nem para a esquerda”. ²³ Mal ele concluiu estas palavras, um judeu adiantou-se à vista de todos para oferecer um sacrifício no altar de Modin, segundo a determinação do rei. ²⁴ Ao ver isso, Matatias inflamou-se de zelo e ficou profundamente indignado. Tomado de justa cólera, precipitou-se contra o homem e matou-o sobre o altar. ²⁵ Matou também o delegado do rei, que queria obrigar a sacrificar, e destruiu o altar. ²⁶ Ardia em zelo pela lei, como Fineias havia feito com Zambri, filho de Salu. ²⁷ E Matatias saiu gritando em alta voz pela cidade: “Quem tiver amor pela lei e quiser conservar a aliança, venha e siga-me!” ²⁸ Então fugiu, ele e seus filhos, para as montanhas, abandonando tudo o que possuíam na cidade. ²⁹ Também muitos, seguidores da justiça e do direito, desceram para o deserto e ali se estabeleceram. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - 1 Maccabees 2,15-29

Taken from just anger, rushed against the man and killed him on the altar. 25 Killed also the delegate of the King, who wanted to make the sacrifice, and destroyed the altar. 26 Burned in zeal for the law, as he had done with Phinehas Zambri, son of Salu. 27 and Mattathias left screaming in a loud voice the city: "Who has love for the law and want to save the Alliance, come and follow me!" 28 Then fled, he and his sons, to the mountains, abandoning everything they owned in the city. 29 many, followers of the justice and the law, went down to the desert and settled there. -The word of the Lord.

Evangelho - Lucas 19,41-44

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, ⁴¹ quando Jesus se aproximou de Jerusalém e viu a cidade, começou a chorar. E disse: ⁴² “Se tu também compreendesses hoje o que te pode trazer a paz! Agora, porém, isso está escondido aos teus olhos! ⁴³ Dias virão em que os inimigos farão trincheiras contra ti e te cercarão de todos os lados. ⁴⁴ Eles esmagarão a ti e a teus filhos. E não deixarão em ti pedra sobre pedra. Porque tu não reconheceste o tempo em que foste visitada”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 19,41-44

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke - at that time, 41 when Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, began to cry. And said: 42 "If you understand today what can bring peace. Now, however, it's hidden in your eyes! 43 days in which enemies will make trenches against you and will surround you on all sides. 44 They will crush you and your children. And don't let you stone unturned. Because you don't recognize the time you visited ". -The word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho  

Tocado por forte comoção, Jesus chora ao ver a cidade de Jerusalém. Com essa atitude, que revela a sua delicada sensibilidade, ele expressa seu primeiro lamento: “Ah, se nesse dia, também você conhecesse a mensagem de paz!”. Esse dia refere-se ao tempo da presença do Messias, que vem para estabelecer no mundo a justiça e a paz, e naturalmente a união entre os povos. Entretanto, a cidade ignorou a longa cadeia dos antigos profetas com seus insistentes apelos de conversão, e agora rechaça o próprio Jesus. O outro lamento refere-se à destruição da cidade e o terror que cairá sem clemência sobre seus habitantes. Jesus sabe que tudo isso poderia ser evitado, se tivessem sido fiéis ao projeto de Deus. Reforça o porquê: a cidade “não reconheceu o tempo em que foi visitada”.

Reflecting the Gospel 

Played by strong emotion, Jesus cries at the sight of the city of Jerusalem. The other sorry refers to the destruction of the city and the terror will fall without mercy on its inhabitants. Jesus knows that all this could be avoided if they had been faithful to God. Reinforces why: the city "did not recognize the time that was visited.
