Com a mesma medida com que medirdes, vós sereis medidos.

With the same measure with which you measure, you will be measured.

Jesus dizia de si mesmo: “Eu sou a luz do mundo. Quem me segue não andará na escuridão, mas terá a luz da vida” (Jo 8,12). E a seus discípulos dizia: “Vocês são a luz do mundo” (Mt 5,14). E recomendava-lhes: “Brilhe a luz de vocês diante das pessoas, para que elas glorifiquem o Pai de vocês que está nos céus” (Mt 5,16). A luz é a verdade; é a Palavra de Deus. A luz é a própria presença de Deus. Jesus nos pede que demos testemunho da luz. O evangelho precisa ser anunciado e conhecido no mundo todo. Essa é a missão que cristãos e cristãs receberam de Jesus. Cabe a pergunta: Somos luz na vida dos nossos semelhantes? Quanto aos dons que de Deus recebemos, eles podem ser luz na vida das pessoas: poderão transfigurar o mundo, se os fizermos frutificar

Jesus said of himself: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life ”(Jn 8,12). And he said to his disciples, "You are the light of the world" (Mt 5,14). And he recommended to them: "Shine your light before people, so that they may glorify your Father who is in heaven" (Mt 5,16). The light is the truth; it is the Word of God. The light is the very presence of God. Jesus asks us to bear witness to the light. The gospel needs to be announced and known throughout the world. This is the mission that Christians received from Jesus. The question is: Are we light in the lives of our fellow men? As for the gifts that we receive from God, they can be light in people's lives: they can transfigure the world, if we make them bear fruit

Ide pelo mundo inteiro e anunciai o evangelho a toda criatura!

Go all over the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature!

Ensinando não somente os apóstolos, mas também as multidões que chegam de todas as partes, Jesus anuncia-lhes a Palavra, atende às necessidades pessoais de seus ouvintes, cura os enfermos. Intensa é sua atividade cotidiana. Obra de zeloso evangelizador. Comparada ao cuidadoso trabalho do semeador. As sementes se comportam conforme a qualidade do terreno; o resultado é desigual, pois os terrenos são diferentes. Assim também a Palavra de Deus, que será acolhida segundo a disposição de cada ouvinte. Alguns se deixam envolver por ela e se tornam fiéis discípulos de Jesus. Outros, vencida a euforia inicial, vão esfriando o ânimo e se afastam. A parábola deixa espaço para cada cristão responder a si mesmo: qual é, para mim, o significado e o efeito da Palavra de Deus?

Teaching not only the apostles, but also the multitudes that arrive from everywhere, Jesus announces the Word to them, meets the personal needs of his hearers, heals the sick. Ide pelo mundo inteiro e anunciai o evangelho a toda criatura!

Antes de sua ascensão ao céu, Jesus envia seus discípulos com uma ordem bem precisa: proclamar o evangelho. Os destinatários são todos os povos do mundo todo. Jesus confere aos discípulos o poder de curar doentes e expulsar demônios. Muitos sinais prodigiosos haveriam de acompanhar e confirmar a obra dos seguidores de Jesus. A Igreja primitiva (ler Atos dos Apóstolos) testemunhou a verdade dessa promessa: “O Senhor confirmava o que eles diziam sobre a graça de Deus, permitindo que através deles se realizassem sinais e prodígios” (At 14,3). Faz parte dessa corrente de pregadores o apóstolo Paulo, através do qual Deus realizava milagres extraordinários (cf. At 19,11).

Before his ascension to heaven, Jesus sends his disciples with a precise order: to proclaim the gospel. Recipients are all people saround the world. Jesus gives his disciples the power to heal the sick and cast out demons. Many prodigious signs would accompany and confirm the work of Jesus' followers. The early Church (read Acts of the Apostles) witnessed the truth of this promise: "The Lord confirmed what they said about God's grace, allowing signs and wonders to be made through them" (Acts 14,3). This current of preachers is the Apostle Paul, through which God performed extraordinary miracles (cf. Acts 19:11).

I went there to arrest all those who found and bring them to Jerusalem in order to be punished. 6Ora, it came to happen that, on the journey, already near Damascus, by noon, suddenly a great light that came from the sky shone around me. 7 I fell apart and heard a voice that said to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuted me?' 8I asked, 'Who are you, Lord?' He answered me, 'I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are pursuing.' 9My companions saw the light, but did not hear the voice that spoke to me. 10 Then I asked, 'What should I do, Lord?' The Lord replied to me, 'Stand up and go to Damascus. There they will explain everything you should do.' 11 As I could not see, because of the brightness of that light, I came to Damascus guided by the hands of my companions. 12A certain Ananias, godly man and faithful to the law, with good reputation with all the Jews who lived there, 13 came to meet me and said, 'Saul, my brother, regains sight!' At the same moment, I recovered my sight and could see it. 14 He then said unto me, 'The God of our ancestors chose you to know his will, see the Righteous, and hear his own voice. 15 For thou snot be his witness before all men of what you have seen and heard. 16And now, what are you waiting for? Stand up, receive baptism, and purify yourself from your sins by invoking his name!"" – Word of the Lord.
