🇧🇷Reflexão 19/12/19 🇺🇸Reflection

Fui enviado para dar-te esta boa notícia.
I was sent to give you this good news.

The story of salvation today brings about a couple, Zechariah and Elizabeth: “Both were righteous before God; they faithfully obeyed all the commandments and commands of the Lord. ” Through the angel, God brings good news to Zechariah: his wife, though old and barren, will conceive a son. The boy comes with the pre-established mission: filled with the Holy Spirit, he will prepare the people of Israel for the coming of the Messiah. Elizabeth, beaming with happiness, feels that she is pregnant and praises the Lord God, who leads the story in a surprising way.

1a. Leitura
7Ele disse-me: ‘Conceberás e darás à luz um filho. O menino cresceu, e o Senhor o abençoou. 25O espírito do Senhor começou a agir nele no campo de Dã. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the Book of Judges 13,2-7.24-25 - In those days, there was a man of Sahara of the tribe of Dan named Manué, whose wife was barren. 3The angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “You are barren and have no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. 4Be careful not to drink wine or liquor, not to eat anything unclean, 5Then you shall conceive and bear a son. His head will not be touched by a razor, because he will be consecrated to the Lord from the womb and will begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines. ” 6The woman said to her husband, “A man of God came to visit me, and he was as terrible as an angel of the Lord. I didn't ask him where he came from, nor did he tell me his name. 7He said to me, "You shall conceive and bear a son." From now on be careful not to drink wine or liquor and eat anything unclean, for the child will be consecrated to God from the womb until the day of his death. ' 24She gave birth to a son and named him Samson. The boy grew up, and the Lord blessed him. 25The spirit of the Lord began to work in him in the field of Dan. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho
Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia.

Gospel
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. O root of Jesse, sign of the nations: O come, deliver us, and be no more late! Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 1,5-25 - 5In the days of Herod, king of Judea, lived a priest named Zacharias of the group of Abia. His wife was a descendant of Aaron and his name was Elizabeth. 6Both both were righteous before God and faithfully obeyed all the commandments and commands of the Lord. 7They had no children, for Elizabeth was barren, and they were both old. 8 On one occasion Zacharias was performing priestly duties in the temple, as it was his turn. 9According to the custom of the priests, he was drawn to enter the sanctuary and make the offering of incense. 10All the assembly of the people were outside praying while incense was being offered. 11Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear came upon him. 13But the angel said, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because God has heard your supplication. Your wife, Elizabeth, is going to have a child, and you will name him John. 14You will be glad and happy, and many will be glad of the boy's birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. He will not drink wine or brew, and from the womb will be filled with the Holy Spirit. 16He will bring many of the people of Israel back to the Lord their God. 17And he shall go before them, with the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the rebellious to the wisdom of the righteous, to prepare for the Lord a good people. ” 18Then Zacharias asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am old and my wife is of old age. ” 19The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I am always in the presence of God and have been sent to give you this good news. 20 Behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled at the right time. 21 The people were waiting for Zacharias, and marveled at their delay in the sanctuary. When he left, he could not speak to them. And they realized that he had had a vision in the sanctuary. Zechariah spoke with signs and remained silent. 23After his days of service were ended, Zechariah returned home. Some time later, his wife Isabel became pregnant and hid for five months. 25She said, “This is what the Lord has done for me, in the days when he deigned to bring me out of public humiliation!” - Word of salvation.
