Sou manso e humilde de coração, e vós encontrareis descanso.

I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest.

Jesus, observa o semblante e os gestos dos seus conterrâneos e sabe o quanto eles estão sofrendo. Ora, muitos andam tão curvados sob o peso de obrigações sociais e exigências religiosas, que perdem a alegria de viver e formam um conceito falso a respeito de Deus. Jesus alivia-lhes o fardo, propõe um caminho que seja de fato mais importante do que as leis.

Jesus observes the countenance and gestures of his countrymen and knows how much they are suffering. Now, many are so bent under the weight of social obligations and religious demands that they lose the joy of living and form a false conception of God. Jesus lightens their burden, proposes a way that is actually more important than the laws.

Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías 40,25-31 – 25“Com quem haveis de me comparar, e a quem seria eu igual?”, fala o Santo. 26Levantai os olhos para o alto e vede: quem criou tudo isso? Aquele que expressa em números o exército das estrelas e a cada uma chama pelo nome: tal é a grandeza e força e poder de Deus, que nenhuma delas falta à chamada. 27Então, por que dizes, Jacó, e por que falas, Israel: “Minha vida ocultou-se da vista do Senhor, e meu julgamento escapa ao do meu Deus”? 28Acaso ignoras ou não ouviste? O Senhor é o Deus eterno que criou os confins da terra; ele não falha nem se cansa, insondável é sua sabedoria; 29ele dá coragem ao desvalido e aumenta o vigor do mais fraco. 30Cansam-se as crianças e param, os jovens tropeçam e caem, 31mas os que esperam no Senhor renovam suas forças, criam asas como as águias, correm sem se cansar, caminham sem parar. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading 

Reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 40,25-31 - 25 “To whom will you compare me, and to whom would I be equal?” Says the Holy One. 26 Lift your eyes up and see: who created all this? He who expresses in numbers the army of the stars and each calls by name: such is the greatness and strength and power of God, that none of them lack the call. 27Then why do you say, Jacob, and why do you speak, Israel, "My life has been hidden from the sight of the Lord, and my judgment is beyond my God?" 28Who do you ignore or haven't you heard? The Lord is the everlasting God who created the ends of the earth; he does not fail or tire, unfathomable is his wisdom; This gives courage to the underprivileged and increases the vigor of the weak. 30The children weary and stop, the young men stumble and fall, 31but those who wait for the Lord renew their strength, they create wings like eagles, they run tirelessly, they walk without stopping. - Word of the Lord.
