🇧🇷 Reflexão 19/06/2019 🇺🇸 Reflection

Jejum, esmola e oração.
Fasting, alms and prayer.

Jesus warns us about a real danger: behind a lot of noise, you can hide a false attitude. As an example, he cites three actions: giving alms, praying and fasting. They are valuable things, provided they performed with straight intent. They lose their effectiveness when someone practices them just to get applause. They will regain value when made to please God, who knows the intimacy of each and can give him the proper reward. We practice good deeds with discretion and humility, so we are assured of the benevolent gaze of God and his reward.

1a. Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians 9,6-11 – Brothers, 6 "He who sows little will reap also little, and who sows with roominess will also reap with roominess". 7Give each one as you have decided in your heart, without sorrow or embarrassment, for God "loves those who give with joy." 8God is powerful to fill you with all sorts of graces, so that, in everything, you always have the necessary and still have to spare for every good work, 9as it is written: "Distributed generously, gave to the poor; His righteousness remains forever. " 10He who gives the seed to the sown and will give him the bread as food, he will multiply your seeds and increase the fruits of your righteousness. 11Thus, you will be enriched in everything and you can practice all sorts of liberality, which, through us, will result in thanksgiving to God. – Word of the Lord.

Evangelho
Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia. Quem me ama realmente / guardará minha Palavra / e meu Pai o amará, / e a ele nós viremos (Jo 14,23).

Gospel
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Who loves me really/will keep my word/And my father will love him,/and to Him we shall come (Jn 14.23). – Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 6.1-6.16-18 – At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 1 "be vigilant not to practice your righteousness in front of men only to be seen by them. Otherwise, you will not receive the reward of your father in heaven. 2So when you give alms, do not touch the trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by men. Verily I say unto you, they have received your reward. 3On the contrary, when you give alms, that your left hand does not know what makes your right hand, 4 so that your alms is hidden. And your father, who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. 5When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who like to pray standing, in the synagogues and on the corners of the squares, to be seen by men. Verily I say unto you, they have received your reward. 6On the contrary, when you pray, enter your room, close the door, and pray to your father who is hidden. And your father, who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. 16When you fast, do not be with the sad face as the hypocrites. They disfigure the face, so that men see that they are fasting. Verily I say unto you, they have received your reward. 17Tu, however, when you fast, pierce your head and wash your face, 18 so that men cannot see that you are fasting, but only your father, who is hidden. And your father, who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. " – Word of salvation.

Salmo 111/112

Psalm 111/112
Happy one who respects the Lord!
– Happy the man who respects the Lord/and who lovingly loves his law! /His offspring will be strong on the Earth,/blessed the generation of the straight men!
– There will be glory and wealth in your home,/and remains forever the good you have done. /He is correct, generous and compassionate,/as light shines in the darkness for the righteous.
