🇧🇷 Evangelho do Dia 11/01/19 🇺🇸 Daily Gospel 01/11/19

Lord, if you will, you have the power to purify me.

1a. Leitura

– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading the first letter of St. John 5: 3-5-13 - Dearly beloved, who is the conqueror of the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is the one who came by the water and the blood: Jesus Christ. (It did not come only with water, but with water and blood.) And the Spirit bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth. 7Thus, there are three who bear witness: 8 The Spirit, the water and the blood; and all three are unanimous. 9 If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater. This is the testimony of God, for he bore witness about his Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him. He who does not believe in God makes him a liar, because he does not believe in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11And the testimony is this: God hath given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; He who does not have the Son does not have life. 13 I write these things to you, who have believed the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho

E, imediatamente, a lepra o deixou. 14E Jesus recomendou-lhe: “Não digas nada a ninguém.

Gospel
Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 5: 12-16 - 12 It happened that Jesus was in a city and there was a man who was a leper. Seeing Jesus, the man fell at his feet and asked, "Lord, if you will, you have the power to purify me." 13 Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, "I will, be thou cleansed." And immediately the leprosy left him. 14 And Jesus said to him, "Say nothing to anyone. Go and show yourself to the priest and offer the purification prescribed by Moses as proof of your healing. " 15 Yet his fame grew, and many multitudes came in to hear him, and to be healed of his infirmities. 16 But he withdrew to solitary places and gave himself to prayer. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Reflecting the Gospel
In healing the leper, Jesus restored the possibility of returning to social life, for a leper patient was avoided by all. The healing takes place in two movements: first, the man recognizes the power of Jesus, prostrates himself at his feet and, respectfully, asks him to be purified. Then Jesus gives it due attention and, with the simple word "I want" and a touch, leaves him free of the disease. Introducing himself to the priest, after healing, was a requirement to be officially reintegrated into society. Upon learning of the fact, multitudes gather around Jesus to hear him and be healed of their illnesses. Jesus, however, shows his perfect balance. Therefore he departs to pray in a quiet place.

Salmo 147/147b

Psalm 147/147b
Glorify the Lord, Jerusalem!
Glorify the Lord, Jerusalem! / O Zion, sing praises to your God! / For thou hast strengthened thy gates, / and thy children in thy bosom hath blessed.
The peace within your borders guaranteed / and gives you as food the flower of wheat. / He sends his orders to earth, / and the word he says runs fast.
He announces to Jacob his word, / his precepts, his laws to Israel. / No people received so much affection, / no other revealed its precepts.
