🇧🇷 Evangelho do Dia 10/01/19 🇺🇸 Daily Gospel 01/10/19

O Espírito do Senhor está sobre mim.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me.

1a. Leitura

– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the first letter of Saint John 4, 19-5,4 - Dearly beloved, while we love God because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, "I love God," though he hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love his brother, whom he sees, can not love God whom he does not see. 21And this is the commandment which we have received from him: he that loveth God love his brother also. 5,1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and those who love him who has begotten someone will love him who is born of him. 2We can know that we love the children of God when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is to love God: to keep his commandments. And his commandments are not heavy, 4 for every one that is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho

17Deram-lhe o livro do profeta Isaías.

Gospel
Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 4, 14-22a - At that time, 14 Jesus returned to Galilee with the power of the Spirit, and his fame spread throughout all roundness. 15 He taught in their synagogues, and they all praised him. And he came to the city of Nazareth, where he had been brought up. According to his custom, he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to do the reading. 17The book of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. Opening the book, Jesus found the passage in which it is written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me with the anointing to preach the good news to the poor; He sent me to proclaim liberation to the captives and the blind to recovery of sight; to deliver the oppressed, and to proclaim a year of the grace of the Lord. " 20 Then he closed the book, handed it to the attendant, and sat down. All who were in the synagogue had their eyes fixed on him. 21Then he began to say to them, "This day of the Scripture which ye have heard is fulfilled." 22And they gave testimony concerning him, amazed at the words full of charm that came out of his mouth. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Reflecting the Gospel
In the Gospel of Luke, the Holy Spirit manifests itself in the origin of the actions of Jesus, as in the episode narrated here. In the synagogue, home of prayer and catechesis, Jesus reads the prophet Isaiah. The text draws the traits of the Messiah, the Liberator, the one who will revive all the marginalized of society. After reading, in the attitude of those who teach (sits), Jesus proclaims solemnly: "Today this passage of Scripture has been fulfilled." In other words: I am the Messiah announced by the prophet. The reaction of the countrymen of Jesus at first is of enthusiasm, then it will be of doubt, and finally of contempt and aggression. On another occasion, Jesus will say: "A prophet is not esteemed in his own country and in his family" (Mt 13:57).

Salmo 71/72

Psalm 71/72
The nations of the whole earth / shall worship you, O Lord!
Give the king your powers, Lord God, your justice to the descendant of royalty! / Righteously, let him govern your people, / with justice he may judge your poor.
He is to deliver them from violence and oppression, / for their blood is very much worthy to them! / They will also pray for him without ceasing, / bless him and honor him every day.
May his name be blessed forever! / And may the sun endure your memory! / All peoples will be blessed in him, / all people will sing his praise!
