Dai, pois, a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus.
Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.

Evangelho - Marcos 12,13-17

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos – Naquele tempo, ¹³as autoridades mandaram alguns fariseus e alguns partidários de Herodes para apanharem Jesus em alguma palavra. ¹⁴Quando chegaram, disseram a Jesus: “Mestre, sabemos que tu és verdadeiro e não dás preferência a ninguém. Com efeito, tu não olhas para as aparências do homem, mas ensinas, com verdade, o caminho de Deus. Dize-nos: é lícito ou não pagar o imposto a César? Devemos pagar ou não?” ¹⁵Jesus percebeu a hipocrisia deles e respondeu: “Por que me tentais? Trazei-me uma moeda, para que eu a veja”. ¹⁶Eles levaram a moeda, e Jesus perguntou: “De quem é a figura e a inscrição que estão nessa moeda?” Eles responderam: “De César”. ¹⁷Então Jesus disse: “Dai, pois, a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus”. E eles ficaram admirados com Jesus. – Palavra da salvação.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Fariseus eram contra os ocupantes romanos. Herodianos, ao invés, eram aliados do governo de Roma. Adversários entre eles, ajuntavam-se para atacar uma presa comum, o Mestre Jesus. Queriam que ele se pronunciasse sobre a obrigação de pagar o imposto ao imperador. Prontamente, Jesus põe tudo no devido lugar. Se há imposto estabelecido é porque os chefes judeus aceitaram o domínio do imperador, estão usando o dinheiro de César. Então “devolvam a César o que é de César”. Só renunciando a esse dinheiro, deixarão de reconhecer César como senhor. Entretanto, há uma nação inteira que precisa ser respeitada e não pode sofrer e agonizar por causa dos pesados impostos (devolvam a Deus o que é de Deus). O povo é de Deus. Deus é o Senhor absoluto.

Reflecting the Gospel
