Eu sou o pão da vida.
I am the bread of life.

Evangelho - João 6,30-35

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João – Naquele tempo, a multidão perguntou a Jesus: ³⁰“Que sinal realizas, para que possamos ver e crer em ti? Que obra fazes? ³¹Nossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, como está na Escritura: ‘Pão do céu deu-lhes a comer’”. ³²Jesus respondeu: “Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, não foi Moisés quem vos deu o pão que veio do céu. É meu Pai que vos dá o verdadeiro pão do céu. ³³Pois o pão de Deus é aquele que desce do céu e dá vida ao mundo”. ³⁴Então pediram: “Senhor, dá-nos sempre desse pão”. ³⁵Jesus lhes disse: “Eu sou o pão da vida. Quem vem a mim não terá mais fome e quem crê em mim nunca mais terá sede”. – Palavra da salvação.

" 32Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, it was not Moses that gave you the bread which came from heaven. It is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. " 34Then they asked, "Lord, give us this bread always." 35Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall hunger no more, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

As multidões pedem a Jesus um sinal grandioso, à semelhança do maná, “o pão que veio do céu” e que os antepassados comeram no deserto. Não levam em conta a “multiplicação” dos pães e peixes do dia anterior. Jesus procura trazê-los à nova realidade: “o verdadeiro pão que vem do céu” é uma pessoa, é ele próprio, o Messias, o Filho de Deus. A missão do Messias não é dar espetáculo, não é impressionar com fatos extraordinários. Seu grande sinal é dar a vida. Não só mediante sua morte na cruz. Sua vida, ele a entrega diariamente em favor do povo, sobretudo do povo marginalizado e oprimido: “Eu sou o pão da vida. Quem vem a mim nunca mais terá fome, e quem acredita em mim nunca mais terá sede”. Jesus é o pão que nos traz vida em abundância. Precisamos entrar em comunhão com ele.

Reflecting the Gospel

The multitudes ask Jesus for a great sign, like the manna, "the bread that came from heaven" and that the ancestors ate in the wilderness. They do not take into account the "multiplication" of the loaves and fish of the previous day. Jesus seeks to bring them to the new reality: "the true bread which comes from heaven" is a person, himself the Messiah, the Son of God. The mission of the Messiah is not to give spectacle, not to impress with extraordinary facts. Its great sign is to give life. Not only through his death on the cross. His life, he gives daily to the people, especially the marginalized and oppressed people: "I am the bread of life.
