Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus a Nicodemos: 7“Vós deveis nascer do alto. 8O
vento sopra onde quer, e tu podes ouvir o seu ruído, mas não sabes de
onde vem nem para onde vai. Assim acontece a todo aquele que nasceu do
Espírito”. 9Nicodemos perguntou: “Como é que isso pode acontecer?” 10Respondeu-lhe Jesus: “Tu és mestre em Israel, mas não sabes estas coisas? 11Em
verdade, em verdade te digo, nós falamos daquilo que sabemos e damos
testemunho daquilo que temos visto, mas vós não aceitais o nosso
testemunho. 12Se não acreditais quando vos falo das coisas da terra, como acreditareis se vos falar das coisas do céu? 13E ninguém subiu ao céu, a não ser aquele que desceu do céu, o Filho do homem. 14Do mesmo modo como Moisés levantou a serpente no deserto, assim é necessário que o Filho do homem seja levantado, 15para que todos os que nele crerem tenham a vida eterna”. – Palavra da salvação.

said to Nicodemus: 7 "You must be born from on high. 8The wind blows where it wants, and you can hear its noise, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit. " 9Nicodemos asked, "How can this happen?" 10Jesus answered him, "You are a teacher in Israel, but do not you know these things? 11
Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and bear witness
of what we have seen, but you do not accept our testimony. 12If you do not believe when I speak to you of the things of the earth, how will you believe if I tell you the things of heaven? 13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, except he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man. 14
Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son
of man be lifted up, that all who believe in him may have eternal life. - Word of salvation.
Refletindo o Evangelho
Da necessidade de nascer do alto (referência ao batismo) passamos à
fé em Cristo, exigida no batismo. Nicodemos dá a Jesus o título de
Mestre. Não se trata de um mestre qualquer; ele é o único que está em
condições de ensinar com verdadeira autoridade. Ele é a testemunha fiel
do Pai, porque vem do céu e diz o que viu junto do Pai (“Estou falando
das coisas que tenho visto junto do Pai” – Jo 8,38); ele transmite as
palavras e o ensinamento do Pai (“As coisas que eu digo, eu as digo
conforme o Pai me disse” – Jo 12,50). Ele é o Filho do Homem que desceu
do céu: “A Palavra se fez carne e armou sua tenda entre nós” (Jo 1,14).
Ele deverá ser “levantado” (alusão à cruz-glorificação) “para que todo
aquele que nele acredita tenha vida eterna”.
Reflecting the Gospel
From the need to be born from above (reference to baptism) we pass on to faith in Christ, required in baptism. Nicodemus gives Jesus the title of Master. It is not a master of any; he is the only one who is able to teach with true authority. He
is the faithful witness of the Father, because he comes from heaven and
says what he saw with the Father ("I speak of the things which I have
seen with the Father" - Jn 8:38); he transmits the words and teaching of the Father ("The things that I say, I say them as the Father has told me" - Jn 12,50). He is the Son of Man who came down from heaven: "The Word became flesh and pitched his tent among us" (Jn 1:14). He must be "raised up" (allusion to the cross-glorification) "so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life".
