🇧🇷 Liturgia Diária 13/02/2018 🇺🇸 Daily Liturgy 02/13/2018

Vocês têm olhos e não enxergam, têm ouvidos e não escutam?
Do you have eyes and do not see, have ears and do not listen?

1a. Leitura - Tiago 1,12-18
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading -
James 1,12-18

Reading of the letter of Saint James - 12Happy man who supports the ordeal. For, having proved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him. No one, when tempted, should say, "It is God who is tempting me," for God can not be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. 14Before, each one is tempted by his own lust, which drags him and seduces him. 15 Then concupiscence conceives sin and gives birth to it, and sin, once consummated, begets death. 16My dear brethren, be not deceived. 17 Every precious gift and every perfect gift comes from above; they descend from the Father of lights, in which there is no change or shadow of variation. 18Of a free will he hath begotten us by the Word of truth, that we might be as the firstfruits of his creatures. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho -
Marcos 8,14-21

Gospel - Mark8,14-21
Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark - At that time, the disciples had forgotten to bring bread. They had only one loaf in their boat. 15Then Jesus warned them, "Pay attention and watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod." 16The disciples said among themselves, "It is because we have no bread." 17But Jesus perceived and said to them, "Why do you argue about the lack of bread? Do you not yet understand or understand? Do you have a hard heart? 18 Having eyes, you do not see, and having ears you do not hear? Do you not remember when I divided five loaves for five thousand people? How many baskets did you pick up? "They answered," Twelve. " 20Jesus asked, "And when I divided up seven loaves with four thousand people, how many baskets did you gather up?" They answered, "Seven." 21Jesus said, "And ye still do not understand?" - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Reflecting the Gospel
The Pharisees exert influence over the people, teaching them a nationalist ideology: they want, for Israel, a powerful Messiah, dominating the other nations. The Herodians (Herod followers) want Israel to be superior to other peoples, accepting, for this, an overbearing king (Herod). It is against this mentality that Jesus warns his disciples. These follow Jesus everywhere and see the great works he performs. Notwithstanding the privilege of always being with the Master, his disciples are on the surface; "Have a hard heart," like the Pharisees. Hence the harsh rebuke of Jesus: "Do you have eyes and do not see, have ears and do not listen?" They have only one bread in the boat (Jesus and his message), but they do not perceive it. They lack nothing.

Rezando
Praying
It is a joy, O Lord, that you form and educate in the ways of the law, / to give you a relief in anguish. When I think, "I'm almost falling!", / Your love sustains me, Lord! / When my heart distresses, / you comfort and rejoice my soul. Psalm 93/94.
