Eu quero: fica curado!
I want: be healed!

1a. Leitura - 2 Reis 5,9-14 

Leitura do segundo livro dos Reis – Naqueles dias, ⁹Naamã chegou com seus cavalos e carros e parou à porta da casa de Eliseu. ¹⁰Eliseu mandou um mensageiro para lhe dizer: “Vai, lava-te sete vezes no Jordão, e tua carne será curada e ficarás limpo”. ¹¹Naamã, irritado, foi-se embora, dizendo: “Eu pensava que ele sairia para me receber e que, de pé, invocaria o nome do Senhor, seu Deus, e que tocaria com sua mão o lugar da lepra e me curaria. ¹²Será que os rios de Damasco, o Abana e o Farfar, não são melhores do que todas as águas de Israel, para eu me banhar nelas e ficar limpo?” Deu meia-volta e partiu indignado. ¹³Mas seus servos aproximaram-se dele e disseram-lhe: “Senhor, se o profeta te mandasse fazer uma coisa difícil, não a terias feito? Quanto mais agora que ele te disse: ‘Lava-te e ficarás limpo’”. ¹⁴Então ele desceu e mergulhou sete vezes no Jordão, conforme o homem de Deus tinha mandado, e sua carne tornou-se semelhante à de uma criancinha, e ele ficou purificado. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - 2 Kings 5,9-14

Reading the second book of the Kings - In those days, Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh shall be healed, and you shall be clean." 11And he went away, angry, and said, I thought that he would go out to meet me, and that he would call upon the name of the LORD his God, and that he would touch the place of the leprosy, and he would heal me. 12Does the rivers of Damascus, Abana, and Farfar, not better than all the waters of Israel, that I may bathe in them and be clean? "He turned and departed in indignation. 13 But his servants came to him and said to him, "Lord, if the prophet told you to do something difficult, would you not have done it? How much more now that he said to you, 'Wash yourself and you will be clean.' " 14And he went down seven times into the Jordan, as the man of God had commanded, and his flesh became like unto a little child, and he was cleansed. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho -Marcos 1,40-45

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos – Naquele tempo, ⁴⁰um leproso chegou perto de Jesus e, de joelhos, pediu: “Se queres, tens o poder de curar-me”. ⁴¹Jesus, cheio de compaixão, estendeu a mão, tocou nele e disse: “Eu quero: fica curado!” ⁴²No mesmo instante a lepra desapareceu e ele ficou curado. ⁴³Então Jesus o mandou logo embora, ⁴⁴falando com firmeza: “Não contes nada disso a ninguém! Vai, mostra-te ao sacerdote e oferece, pela tua purificação, o que Moisés ordenou, como prova para eles!” ⁴⁵Ele foi e começou a contar e a divulgar muito o fato. Por isso Jesus não podia mais entrar publicamente numa cidade: ficava fora, em lugares desertos. E de toda parte vinham procurá-lo. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Mark 1,40-45

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ According to Mark - At that time a leper came near Jesus and on his knees asked: "If you wish, you have the power to heal me." 41Jesus, full of compassion, stretched out his hand, touched him and said, "I will: be healed!" 42At the very moment the leprosy disappeared and he was healed. 43Then Jesus sent him away, speaking firmly, "Do not tell anybody about this! Go, show yourself to the priest and offer, for your cleansing, what Moses commanded, as proof to them! "45He went and began to tell and spread the fact much. That is why Jesus could no longer enter publicly into a city: he was out in deserted places. And everywhere they came to him. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Jesus se defronta com um leproso, símbolo máximo de exclusão religiosa e social. Diante da marginalização provocada por leis injustas, Jesus toma posição em defesa da vida, relativizando o código do puro e do impuro. O doente é corajoso e confiante, quebra as normas do isolamento e se aproxima de Jesus: “se queres, podes me curar”. Ele reconhece que Jesus tem o poder de reintegrá-lo ao convívio social. Jesus toca o doente: este fica curado. E Jesus, por sua vez, se torna “impuro”: é mais um excluído que tem que viver fora, em lugares desertos. Diante desse fato, somos convidados a olhar não tanto para o “milagre” em si, mas para o que ele aponta. Com esse gesto, Jesus quer derrubar as barreiras levantadas por preconceitos, criados por certas leis ultrapassadas ou pela intolerância que provocam exclusões e perseguições. A ação de Jesus se opõe à “política higienista”, que propõe varrer para o ostracismo cidadãos mendigos e “impuros”. Deus não marginaliza, é a sociedade que coloca barreiras e exclui os indesejáveis, os “leprosos”.

Reflecting the Gospel

Jesus confronts a leper, a symbol of maximum religious and social exclusion. Faced with the marginalization provoked by unjust laws, Jesus takes a position in defense of life, relativizing the code of the pure and the impure. The patient is courageous and confident, breaks the norms of isolation and approaches Jesus: "If you want, you can heal me." He recognizes that Jesus has the power to reintegrate him into social life. Jesus touches the sick: he is healed. And Jesus, in turn, becomes "impure": he is more of an outsider who has to live outside, in deserted places. Faced with this fact, we are invited to look not so much for the "miracle" itself, but for what it points out. With this gesture, Jesus wants to break down the barriers raised by prejudices, created by certain outdated laws or by the intolerance that provoke exclusions and persecutions. The action of Jesus opposes the "hygienist policy", which proposes to sweep out ostracism beggars and "impure" citizens. God does not marginalize, it is the society that places barriers and excludes the undesirables, the "lepers."
