dizia-lhes: “A messe é grande, mas os trabalhadores são poucos. Por
isso, pedi ao dono da messe que mande trabalhadores para a colheita. 3 Eis que vos envio como cordeiros para o meio de lobos. 4 Não leveis bolsa, nem sacola, nem sandálias e não cumprimenteis ninguém pelo caminho! 5 Em qualquer casa em que entrardes, dizei primeiro: ‘A paz esteja nesta casa!’ 6 Se ali morar um amigo da paz, a vossa paz repousará sobre ele; se não, ela voltará para vós. 7 Permanecei
naquela mesma casa, comei e bebei do que tiverem, porque o trabalhador

Uma tradição do II século nos apresenta Lucas, um sírio proveniente
de Antioquia, como o autor do terceiro Evangelho e dos Atos dos
Apóstolos. Alguns textos bíblicos do Novo Testamento citam seu nome:
Carta a Filêmon (v. 24), Segunda Carta a Timóteo (4,11); Carta aos
Colossenses (4,14), cujo autor o saúda como “Lucas, o médico amado”.
Pelos estudos comparativos com a linguagem e o estilo dos outros médicos
gregos da época, pode-se afirmar que nas duas obras de Lucas
transparece claramente certa familiaridade com o linguajar médico. Lucas
era homem culto e conhecia muito bem a língua grega. São Jerônimo
manifesta admiração pelo escritor, “o mais dotado em língua grega entre
os evangelistas”. Seus dotes foram colocados a serviço da redação e da
difusão do Evangelho.
