Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia. Este é o dia que o Senhor fez para nós, / alegremo-nos e nele exultemos! (Sl 117,24) – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 24,13-35 – 13Naquele mesmo dia, o primeiro da semana, dois dos discípulos de Jesus iam para um povoado, chamado Emaús, distante onze quilômetros de Jerusalém. 14Conversavam sobre todas as coisas que tinham acontecido. 15Enquanto conversavam e discutiam, o próprio Jesus se aproximou e começou a caminhar com eles. 16Os discípulos, porém, estavam como que cegos e não o reconheceram. 17Então Jesus perguntou: “O que ides conversando pelo caminho?” Eles pararam, com o rosto triste, 18e um deles, chamado Cléofas, lhe disse: “Tu és o único peregrino em Jerusalém que não sabe o que lá aconteceu nestes últimos dias?” 19Ele perguntou: “O que foi?” Os discípulos responderam: “O que aconteceu com Jesus, o nazareno, que foi um profeta poderoso, em obras e palavras, diante de Deus e diante de todo o povo. 20Nossos sumos sacerdotes e nossos chefes o entregaram para ser condenado à morte e o crucificaram. 21Nós esperávamos que ele fosse libertar Israel, mas, apesar de tudo isso, já faz três dias que todas essas coisas aconteceram! 22É verdade que algumas mulheres do nosso grupo nos deram um susto. Elas foram de madrugada ao túmulo 23e não encontraram o corpo dele. Então voltaram, dizendo que tinham visto anjos e que estes afirmaram que Jesus está vivo. 24Alguns dos nossos foram ao túmulo e encontraram as coisas como as mulheres tinham dito. A ele, porém, ninguém o viu”. 25Então Jesus lhes disse: “Como sois sem inteligência e lentos para crer em tudo o que os profetas falaram! 26Será que o Cristo não devia sofrer tudo isso para entrar na sua glória?” 27E, começando por Moisés e passando pelos profetas, explicava aos discípulos todas as passagens da Escritura que falavam a respeito dele. 28Quando chegaram perto do povoado para onde iam, Jesus fez de conta que ia mais adiante. 29Eles, porém, insistiram com Jesus, dizendo: “Fica conosco, pois já é tarde e a noite vem chegando!” Jesus entrou para ficar com eles. 30Quando se sentou à mesa com eles, tomou o pão, abençoou-o, partiu-o e lhes distribuía. 31Nisso os olhos dos discípulos se abriram, e eles reconheceram Jesus. Jesus, porém, desapareceu da frente deles. 32Então um disse ao outro: “Não estava ardendo o nosso coração quando ele nos falava pelo caminho e nos explicava as Escrituras?” 33Naquela mesma hora, eles se levantaram e voltaram para Jerusalém, onde encontraram os onze reunidos com os outros. 34E estes confirmaram: “Realmente, o Senhor ressuscitou e apareceu a Simão!” 35Então os dois contaram o que tinha acontecido no caminho e como tinham reconhecido Jesus ao partir o pão. – Palavra da salvação.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. This is the day the Lord has made for us, / rejoice and rejoice in it! (Ps 117,24) - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 24, 13-35 - 13On that same day, the first of the week, two of Jesus' disciples were going to a village called Emmaus, eleven kilometers from Jerusalem. 14 They talked about all the things that had happened. 15While they talked and argued, Jesus himself came and started walking with them. 16The disciples, however, were as if blind and did not recognize him. 17Then Jesus asked, "What are you talking about on the way?" They stopped, with a sad face, 18and one of them, called Cleophas, said to him: "Are you the only pilgrim in Jerusalem who does not know what has happened there in these last days?" 19He asked, "What is it?" The disciples replied: “What happened to Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a powerful prophet, in deeds and words, before God and before all the people. 20Our high priests and our chiefs handed him over to be put to death and crucified him. 21We expected him to deliver Israel, but despite all that, all these things have happened for three days! It is true that some women in our group startled us. They went to tomb 23 at dawn and did not find his body. Then they returned, saying that they had seen angels and that they claimed that Jesus is alive. 24Some of our people went to the tomb and found things as women had said. However, no one saw him ”. 25Then Jesus said to them: “How clueless you are and slow to believe everything that the prophets have spoken! 26Couldn't Christ have to suffer all this to enter his glory? ” 27And, beginning with Moses and passing through the prophets, he explained to the disciples all the passages of Scripture that spoke about him. 28When they got close to the village where they were going, Jesus pretended to go further. 29They, however, insisted on Jesus, saying, "Stay with us, for it is already late and night is coming!" Jesus came in to be with them. 30When he sat down at the table with them, he took the bread, blessed it, broke it and distributed it to them. 31Then the disciples' eyes were opened, and they recognized Jesus. Jesus, however, disappeared in front of them. 32Then one said to the other, "Wasn't our heart burning when he spoke to us on the way and explained the Scriptures to us?" 33At that same time, they got up and returned to Jerusalem, where they found the eleven gathered with the others. 34And these confirmed: “Indeed, the Lord is risen and appeared to Simon!” 35Then the two told what had happened on the way and how they recognized Jesus when he broke the bread. - Word of salvation.

Reflexão
Em Emaús a Palavra de Deus que se encarnou revela-se aos discípulos na proclamação da Palavra, “começando por Moisés e percorrendo todos os Profetas”. Quão rica deve ter sido essa catequese ministrada por Jesus! Depois, o Pão vivo descido do Céu manifesta-se ao partir o pão: “Estando com eles à mesa, tomou o pão, abençoou, partiu e deu a eles”. A Eucaristia é o sacramento que nos põe em íntima comunhão com o mistério pascal: paixão, morte e ressurreição-glorificação de Jesus.

Reflection
In Emmaus, the Word of God that became incarnate is revealed to the disciples in the proclamation of the Word, “beginning with Moses and going through all the Prophets”. How rich that catechesis taught by Jesus must have been! Afterwards, the living Bread descended from Heaven manifests itself when breaking the bread: "Being with them at the table, he took the bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to them". The Eucharist is the sacrament that brings us into close communion with the paschal mystery: passion, death and resurrection-glorification of Jesus.

Ó Ressuscitado, continue a percorrer as estradas do mundo e a inserir-te na vida dos homens e mulheres de todos os tempos. Dá-nos a graça de reconhecer tua presença nos nossos semelhantes e no sacramento da Eucaristia. Amém.
