Jesus dedicates effort to the formation of his disciples. He begins with a survey of his own person and is satisfied with the disciples' response, through Peter's mouth: "You are the Messiah". Jesus is the Messiah, not a mere prophet and should clarify in what sense He is the Messiah: a sense far removed from the expectations of the people and the disciples themselves. In fact, on many occasions, the disciples are unsure of following the Master. Starting with Pedro, who is revolted by the first announcement of Passion and Death. Faith does not really begin until they recognize not only the Christ of miracles, but also the Christ of the cross.
