Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías – 1 O
espírito do Senhor Deus está sobre mim, porque o Senhor me ungiu;
enviou-me para dar a boa-nova aos humildes, curar as feridas da alma,
pregar a redenção para os cativos e a liberdade para os que estão
presos; 2 para proclamar o tempo da graça do Senhor. 10 Exulto
de alegria no Senhor e minha alma regozija-se em meu Deus; ele me
vestiu com as vestes da salvação, envolveu-me com o manto da justiça e
adornou-me como um noivo com sua coroa ou uma noiva com suas joias. 11 Assim
como a terra faz brotar a planta e o jardim faz germinar a semente,
assim o Senhor Deus fará germinar a justiça e a sua glória diante de
todas as nações. – Palavra do Senhor.

Eu não mereço desamarrar a correia de suas sandálias”. 28 Isso aconteceu em Betânia, além do Jordão, onde João estava batizando. – Palavra da salvação.

Refletindo o Evangelho
João Batista era um pregador
convicto e capaz de arrastar multidões. Ele veio para dar testemunho da
luz, que é Jesus. Esse fenômeno causou preocupação aos líderes
religiosos, representantes do poder central: seria João talvez o Messias
esperado? Os fariseus mandaram um grupo para entrevistá-lo. A cada
pergunta dos sacerdotes e levitas, João rebatia esclarecendo que ele não
era o Messias (Cristo); era “uma voz gritando no deserto”. Deserto faz
lembrar a caminhada do povo rumo à libertação. João Batista é alguém que
prepara o povo para a libertação que deverá acontecer por meio de
Jesus. João pregava: “Aplanem o caminho do Senhor”. Tratava-se de abrir o
coração para acolher aquele que, ao chegar, haveria de implantar o
Reino de Deus, reino de justiça, fraternidade e paz.
Reflecting the Gospel
The
Prophet Elijah was a man filled with the spirit of God and full of
courage and bravery. Faced enemies of your people and your faith in the
God only of Israel. In the days of Jesus, another Prophet has the
features of Elias. Is John the Baptist, endowed with strength, courage
and zeal for the Lord. John the Baptist, precursor of the Messiah, the
authorities put in prison and then killed him by cutting off his head.
Jesus, the Messiah expected, will treat in a similar way: they're going
to convict him and eliminate him with the death on the cross. The
disciples of Christ know that they run the risk of having the same luck
that your Master: "If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also"
(Jo 15.20).
