O céu e a terra passarão, mas as minhas palavras não hão de passar!
Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass!

1a. Leitura - Daniel 7,2-14

Leitura da profecia de Daniel – Eu, Daniel, ² tive uma visão durante a noite: eis que os quatro ventos do céu revolviam o vasto mar, ³ e quatro grandes animais, diferentes uns dos outros, emergiam do mar. ⁴ O primeiro era semelhante a um leão e tinha asas de águia; ainda estava olhando, quando lhe foram arrancadas as asas; ele foi erguido da terra e posto de pé como um homem, e foi-lhe dado um coração de homem. ⁵ Eis que surgiu outro animal, o segundo, semelhante a um urso, que estava erguido pela metade e tinha três costelas nas fauces entre os dentes; ouvia-se dizer: “Vamos, come mais carne”. ⁶ Continuei a olhar, e eis que assomou outro animal, semelhante a um leopardo; tinha no dorso quatro asas de ave, e havia no animal quatro cabeças. E foi-lhe dado poder. ⁷ Depois, eu insistia em minha visão noturna, e eis que apareceu o quarto animal, terrível, estranho e extremamente forte; com suas dentuças de ferro, tudo devorava e triturava, calcando aos pés o que sobrava; era bem diferente dos outros animais que eu vi antes e tinha dez chifres. ⁸ Eu observava esses chifres, e eis que apontou entre eles outro chifre pequeno, e, em compensação, foram arrancados três dos primeiros chifres; e eis que neste chifre pequeno havia uns olhos como olhos de homem e uma boca que fazia ouvir uma fala muito forte.

⁹ Eu continuava olhando até que foram colocados uns tronos, e um ancião de muitos dias aí tomou lugar. Sua veste era branca como neve e os cabelos da cabeça, como lã pura; seu trono eram chamas de fogo, e as rodas do trono, como fogo em brasa. ¹⁰ Derramava-se aí um rio de fogo que nascia diante dele; serviam-no milhares de milhares, e milhões de milhões assistiam-no ao trono; foi instalado o tribunal e os livros foram abertos. ¹¹ Eu estava olhando para o lado das palavras fortes que o mencionado chifre fazia ouvir, quando percebi que o animal tinha sido morto e vi que seu corpo fora feito em pedaços e tinha sido entregue ao fogo para queimar; ¹² percebi também que aos restantes animais foi-lhes tirado o poder, sendo-lhes prolongada a vida por certo tempo. ¹³ Continuei insistindo na visão noturna, e eis que, entre as nuvens do céu, vinha um como filho de homem, aproximando-se do ancião de muitos dias, e foi conduzido à sua presença. ¹⁴ Foram-lhe dados poder, glória e realeza, e todos os povos, nações e línguas o serviam: seu poder é um poder eterno que não lhe será tirado, e seu reino, um reino que não se dissolverá. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - Daniel 7,2-14

His dress was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; your throne was flames of fire, and the wheels of the throne, like fire burning. 10 Shed-a river of fire that rose before him; served in thousands of thousands, and millions of millions watching him on the throne; the Court was set up and the books were opened. 11 I was looking at the side of the strong words that mentioned Horn did hear, when I realized that the animal had been dead and saw that your body was torn to pieces and had been delivered to the fire to burn; 12 realized also that the remaining animals were taken power, and prolonged life for a time. 13 Kept insisting on night vision, and behold, in the clouds of heaven, he was a son of man, approaching the old man of many days, and was driven to your presence. 14 Were given power, glory and kingship, and all peoples, Nations and languages served: your power is an eternal power that will not be taken, and your Kingdom, a Kingdom that will not dissolve. -The word of the Lord.

Evangelho - Lucas 21,29-33

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, ²⁹ Jesus contou-lhes uma parábola: “Olhai a figueira e todas as árvores. ³⁰ Quando vedes que elas estão dando brotos, logo sabeis que o verão está perto. ³¹ Vós também, quando virdes acontecer essas coisas, ficai sabendo que o reino de Deus está perto. ³² Em verdade eu vos digo, tudo isso vai acontecer antes que passe esta geração. ³³ O céu e a terra passarão, mas as minhas palavras não hão de passar”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 21,29-33

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke - at that time, 29 Jesus told them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees. 30 When you see that they are giving shoots, soon you know that summer is near. 31 You also, when you see these things happening, know that the Kingdom of God is near. 32 verily I say unto you, all this will happen before you pass this generation. 33 heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass ". -The word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho  

Jesus avisa: “O céu e a terra passarão, mas as minhas palavras não passarão”. A presença e a incidência das comunidades cristãs no mundo são testemunho de que as palavras de Jesus continuam válidas e atuais. A parábola da figueira é um alerta para a realidade do Reino de Deus que está sempre se aproximando. O Reino de Deus nada mais é do que a justiça que anuncia e denuncia, provocando transformações em todos os níveis de relações humanas. O Reino se aproxima e torna-se presente, sempre que a justiça triunfa, criando relações determinadas pelo espírito de partilha e fraternidade, levando todos a usufruírem a liberdade e a vida. A mensagem é de esperança e libertação: o Filho do Homem tem nas mãos as rédeas da História e libertará todos os que lhe são fiéis na construção da Nova História.

Reflecting the Gospel 

Jesus warns: "heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass". The presence and the incidence of Christian communities in the world are testimony that Jesus ' words are still valid and current. The parable of the fig tree is an alert to the reality of the Kingdom of God that is always approaching. The Kingdom of God is justice that announces and denounces, causing transformations at every level of human relations. The Kingdom is approaching and becomes present, whenever the justice triumphs, creating certain relations in the spirit of sharing and giving, leading all to enjoy freedom and life. The message is of hope and Liberation: the son of man has in his hands the reins of history and will release all those who are faithful in the construction of the new story.
