1a. Leitura - Isaías 48,17-19
Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías – ¹⁷ Isto diz o Senhor, o teu libertador, o santo de Israel: “Eu, o Senhor teu Deus, te ensino coisas úteis, te conduzo pelo caminho em que andas. ¹⁸ Ah, se tivesses observado os meus mandamentos! Tua paz teria sido como um rio e tua justiça como as ondas do mar; ¹⁹ tua descendência seria como a areia do mar e os filhos do teu ventre como os grãos de areia; este nome não teria desaparecido nem teria sido cancelado de minha presença”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Gospel - Matthew 11,16-19

Refletindo o Evangelho  

Em outra circunstância, Jesus afirmara: “Esta é uma geração má”. Aqui diz que é uma geração cabeçuda. Trata-se de pessoas que vivem apegadas, de maneira obstinada, a suas ideias e convicções e rejeitam o raciocínio e os argumentos dos outros. João Batista e Jesus anunciam o Reino de Deus e, com modos diferentes de viver, dedicam-se à implantação e ao desenvolvimento de uma nova sociedade baseada no amor a Deus e ao próximo. Muitos conterrâneos de João e de Jesus, principalmente os chefes do povo, põem-se contra eles; recusam-se a assumir qualquer mudança, preferindo manter privilégios. Entretanto, a vida e ações de João e de Jesus provam que ambos realizam a vontade de Deus.

Reflecting the Gospel
