🇧🇷 Evangelho do Dia 21/12/18 🇺🇸 Daily Gospel 12/21/18

Maria visita sua prima Isabel.
Maria visits her cousin Isabel.

1a. Leitura

Pois a tua voz é tão doce, e gracioso o teu semblante”. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Read the book of the Song of Songs 2, 8-14 - 8The voice of my beloved! Behold, he is leaping on the hills, leaping upon the hills. My lover looks like a gazelle or a deer still young. Behold, he is standing behind our wall, peering through the windows, watching through the bars. My beloved speaks to me, saying, "Arise, my beloved, my scroll, my beautiful one, and come! The winter has passed, the rains have stopped, and they are gone. 12In the field the flowers appear, the time of the songs arrives, the scroll already makes its singing heard in our land. 13 From the fig tree the firstfruits sprout; Arise, my beloved, beautiful mine, and come! 14 My scroll, which dwelleth in the clefts of the rock, in the steep hiding place, show me thy face, let me hear thy voice! For your voice is so sweet, and your countenance is gracious. " - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho

43Como posso merecer que a mãe do meu Senhor me venha visitar?

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 1,26-38 - 26In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin, promised in marriage to a man named Joseph. He was a descendant of David and the name of the virgin was Mary. 28The angel came in and said, "Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" 29 Mary was troubled by these words and began to wonder what the meaning of the salutation would be. 30The angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Mary, because you have found favor with God. 31And thou shalt conceive, and bear a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great, he will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. 33 He shall reign forever over the descendants of Jacob, and his kingdom shall have no end. " 34Maria asked the angel, "How will this happen if I do not know any man?" The angel replied, "The Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be called the saint, the Son of God. 36 And Elizabeth, thy kinswoman, conceived a son in old age. This is already the sixth month of that which was considered barren, 37because nothing is impossible with God. " 38Mariah said, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word! "And the angel departed. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho
Isabel ficou plena do Espírito Santo”.

Reflecting the Gospel
Having conceived by the Holy Spirit, Mary feels compelled to visit Elizabeth to communicate her great experience. Elizabeth, for her part, also longs to sing the wonders that the Lord is performing in her life. Despite being old and sterile, she is gestating a son, who will be called John. The Holy Spirit is the great protagonist of these events. In fact, Mary conceives by the Holy Spirit. "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby jumped for joy in her belly. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. " And John, according to the angel's announcement, "shall be filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb of his mother" (Lk 1, 15b). Elizabeth and Mary, two pregnant women by the power of the Lord, unite in the celebration of the great saving work of God.

Salmo 32/33
Ó justos, alegrai-vos no Senhor!
No Senhor nós esperamos confiantes, / porque ele é nosso auxílio e proteção!

Psalm 32/33
O ye righteous, rejoice in the Lord! / Sing to the Lord a new song!
Give thanks to the Lord for the sound of the harp, / in the lyre of ten strings celebrate it! / Sing to the Lord a new song, / with art sustain praise!
But the deeds of the Lord are forever, and the thoughts which he brings in the heart will endure from generation to generation. / Blessed is the people whose God is Lord / and the nation which he has chosen for his inheritance!
In the Lord we trustfully hope, / for he is our help and protection! / So our hearts rejoice in him, / his holy name is our only hope.
