Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías 26, 1-6 – 1Naquele dia, cantarão este canto em Judá: “Uma cidade fortificada é a nossa segurança; o Senhor cercou-a de muros e antemuro. 2Abri as suas portas, para que entre um povo justo, cumpridor da palavra, 3firme em seu propósito; e tu lhe conservarás a paz, porque confia em ti. 4Esperai no Senhor por todos os tempos, o Senhor é a rocha eterna. 5Ele derrubou os que habitam no alto, há de humilhar a cidade orgulhosa, deitando-a por terra até fazê-la beijar o chão. 6Hão de pisá-la os pés, os pés dos pobres, as passadas dos humildes”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Se nossas palavras, também nossos louvores a Deus, não forem acompanhados de boas obras em favor do próximo, estamos nos iludindo. Jesus acaba de nos avisar: o que conta é assumir compromisso com a palavra dele e fazer a vontade do Pai celeste. E qual é a sua vontade? É exatamente o que Jesus realizou e nos deixou como exemplo e exigência. Ele próprio dizia: “Eu vim para que tenham vida e a tenham em abundância” (Jo 10,10). É socorrer o necessitado, erguer o caído, curar o ferido, consolar o aflito. É usar de misericórdia com aquele que precisa de mim. Cada boa obra é como um tijolinho que vamos alinhando na construção de nossa casa (vida) sobre rocha inabalável (Cristo). Com qual “alicerce” estou construindo a minha vida?

Reflecting the Gospel 

If our words, also our praises to God, are not accompanied by good works for our neighbor, we are deceiving ourselves. Jesus has just warned us: what counts is to take commitment with His word and to do the will of the heavenly Father. And what is your will? This is exactly what Jesus accomplished and left us as example and demand. He himself said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (Jn 10,10). It is to succor the needy, to raise up the fallen, to heal the wounded, to comfort the afflicted. It is to use mercy with the one who needs me. Every good work is like a brick that we are aligning in the construction of our house (life) on unshakable rock (Christ). With what "foundation" am I building my life?

Enquanto muitos poderosos exploram a população, eis que surge um líder (Jesus) que investe todas as suas capacidades a fim de renovar a vida do povo. E o faz, não com promessas ou boas intenções. Ele realiza de fato uma mudança significativa na história de quem o busca com fé e coração aberto. Então vemos o poder de Deus transformando a vida da sociedade: Jesus restitui a saúde aos doentes, reintegra no convívio social a muitos marginalizados, oferece dignidade a todos. O episódio da partilha de alimento para incontável multidão é um sério apelo a todos nós: se houver partilha igualitária dos bens da criação (sete pães indica totalidade), todos ficarão alimentados. Bendigamos ao Senhor pelo pão da terra e pelo pão do céu.

Reflecting the Gospel
