Leitura da profecia de Daniel – 9 Eu continuava olhando até que foram colocados uns tronos, e um ancião de muitos dias aí tomou lugar. Sua veste era branca como neve e os cabelos da cabeça, como lã pura; seu trono eram chamas de fogo, e as rodas do trono, como fogo em brasa. 10 Derramava-se aí um rio de fogo que nascia diante dele; serviam-no milhares de milhares, e milhões de milhões assistiam-no ao trono; foi instalado o tribunal e os livros foram abertos. 13 Continuei insistindo na visão noturna, e eis que, entre as nuvens do céu, vinha um como filho de homem, aproximando-se do ancião de muitos dias, e foi conduzido à sua presença. 14 Foram-lhe dados poder, glória e realeza, e todos os povos, nações e línguas o serviam: seu poder é um poder eterno que não lhe será tirado, e seu reino, um reino que não se dissolverá. – Palavra do Senhor.

Gospel - Matthew 17,1-9

Refletindo o Evangelho
A caminho de Jerusalém, Jesus havia falado abertamente de sua morte próxima. Seus discípulos ficaram desconcertados, seja pelo trágico fim do Mestre, seja porque foram convidados a arriscar a própria vida por ele. Ora, o fato da transfiguração garante ao discípulo que Jesus Cristo é o Filho de Deus: “Este é o meu Filho amado, em quem encontro o meu agrado”. Ele veio para cumprir a Lei e os Profetas (todo o Antigo Testamento, representado por Moisés e Elias). Trata-se, portanto, da solene manifestação de Jesus, que passará pelo sofrimento e da morte para chegar à ressurreição. A determinação do Pai é que os discípulos, aqui representados por Pedro, Tiago e João, ouçam o Filho. Ouvir é entender a mensagem de Jesus pondo-a em prática e carregando a própria cruz (Mt 16,24-26).

Reflecting the Gospel

Gospel - Matthew 13,36-43

Refletindo o Evangelho 
João Batista fora decapitado por ordem do rei Herodes, que não conseguia apagar da memória a gigantesca figura do precursor do Messias. Tanto assim que, ao ser informado sobre a fama de Jesus, Herodes logo pensa tratar-se de João que havia ressuscitado dos mortos. Ao mostrar a preocupação de Herodes com os sinais operados por Jesus, o evangelista introduz a narrativa sobre a morte de João Batista. É degolado no cárcere, por determinação de Herodes, no contexto de um banquete para celebrar a vida e de uma promessa absurda feita à filha de Herodíades. Mãe e filha, possuídas por maligno instinto, pedem a morte de João. Irresponsabilidade, insensatez e crueldade de Herodes concorreram para fazer rolar a cabeça do Profeta. Ao mártir de Cristo, a glória eterna! Se a Palavra nos incomoda, é porque está nos fazendo bem; se não nos incomoda, o erro não está nela, o problema está em quem a acolhe, porque não se deixa mover e tocar por ela. Cometemos um erro terrível, deixamos que a Palavra que nós escutamos, incomode a vida dos outros, mas jamais a nossa. Deixemo-nos incomodar pela Palavra, para que, de fato, ela entre no nosso ouvido, no nosso coração, para remover e tirar de nós aquilo que não é coerente, que não é correto, aquilo que estamos fazendo e está em desacordo com a graça de Deus.

Durante sete dias comereis pães ázimos. 7 No primeiro dia tereis uma santa assembleia, não fareis nenhum trabalho servil; 8 oferecereis ao Senhor sacrifícios pelo fogo durante sete dias. Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, 54 dirigindo-se para a sua terra, Jesus ensinava na sinagoga, de modo que ficavam admirados. E diziam: “De onde lhe vem essa sabedoria e esses milagres? 55 Não é ele o filho do carpinteiro? Sua mãe não se chama Maria, e seus irmãos não são Tiago, José, Simão e Judas? 56 E suas irmãs não moram conosco? Então, de onde lhe vem tudo isso?” 57 E ficaram escandalizados por causa dele. Jesus, porém, disse: “Um profeta só não é estimado em sua própria pátria e em sua família!” 58 E Jesus não fez ali muitos milagres, porque eles não tinham fé. – Palavra da salvação.

Jesus volta à sua terra. O episódio nos possibilita saber que Jesus pertencia a uma família simples, bem conhecida, do mesmo nível social que a maioria dos moradores do lugarejo. Conheciam Maria, a mãe de Jesus, e sabiam o nome de cada parente dele. Entretanto, esses dados e a proximidade deles em relação a Jesus, não lhe facilitaram o trabalho missionário. Por um lado admiravam sua brilhante sabedoria e os milagres que realizava. Por outro lado, aos nazarenos faltou fé para chegarem a Deus por meio do humano. O pessoal se colocou numa posição tão inflexível, que Jesus ficou sem condições de operar milagres entre eles. O ditado popular afirma que “santo de casa não faz milagres”. Por baixo da obstinada reação dos conterrâneos de Jesus havia sem dúvida uma pitada de inveja, ou muita! Fé é atitude de confiança, de comunhão relacional com Deus; fé é deixar-se ser absolvido, tomado por essa atmosfera da graça que Deus traz até nós. Você pode chegar para participar de uma celebração, de um acontecimento religioso e ver ali apenas aspectos humanos: ver os pecados do padre, as falhas das pessoas e tudo ficar por isso mesmo. Você entra e sai da mesma forma ou pior, porque entrou nos aspectos acidentais e não essenciais, que é a graça dada, transmitida, a graça que Deus faz agir independente da fraqueza da natureza humana. Se eles [parentes de Jesus] não foram capazes de enxergar a graça de Cristo, muitos de nós, hoje, não enxergamos a graça de Deus agindo no meio de nós, porque damos mais ouvidos à incredulidade do que à graça do Reino.

Faith is trust, attitude of communion with God relational; faith is letting itself be acquitted, taken by this atmosphere of grace that God brings to us. Gospel - Matthew 13,36-43

Refletindo o Evangelho 
A parábola da rede que apanha todo tipo de peixes é uma advertência séria: Deus é paciente, cabe a cada um decidir ser discípulo fiel de Jesus e comprometido com o Reino dos Céus. É prudente fazer da própria vida uma constante doação a serviço do próximo. Aos discípulos, instruídos sobre o “Reino dos Céus”, Jesus convida a serem sábios: não desprezar o passado, o Antigo Testamento, mas em cima do passado construir o presente, a nova comunidade de Cristo, a Igreja. Um lembrete para os cristãos de hoje: não se podem ignorar dois mil anos de história do cristianismo. Afinal, a Igreja atual se consolida e se fortalece sobre as bases assentadas ao longo dos séculos e em toda parte, à custa da multidão de testemunhas fiéis a Jesus Cristo, dentre elas uma fileira incontável de mártires.

Reflecting the Gospel

1a. Leitura - Êxodo 34,29-35
Leitura do livro do Êxodo – 29 Quando Moisés desceu da montanha do Sinai, trazendo nas mãos as duas tábuas da aliança, não sabia que a pele do seu rosto resplandecia por ter falado com o Senhor. 30 Aarão e os filhos de Israel, vendo o rosto de Moisés resplandecente, tiveram medo de se aproximar. 31 Então Moisés os chamou, e tanto Aarão como os chefes da comunidade foram para junto dele. Refletindo o Evangelho 
Duas comparações aplicadas ao Reino dos Céus. Em ambas destacam-se: uma descoberta muito valiosa (tesouro e pérola) e venda de todas as posses em vista de comprar o bem maior recém-encontrado. Assim é o Reino dos Céus: uma realidade de suma importância. Não basta, porém, tomar conhecimento de sua preciosidade; é necessário largar os bens materiais, a fim de entregar-se totalmente à nova descoberta. Jesus quer nos enriquecer de bens superiores, por isso pede que renunciemos aos bens inferiores. São Paulo reconhece: “Considero tudo como perda, diante do bem superior que é o conhecimento de Cristo Jesus” (Fl 3,8). Quem começa a fazer parte do Reino de Deus experimenta indizível alegria com a certeza de estar fazendo a melhor aplicação de sua vida.
