Jesus called the twelve and began to send them two by two.

Adapted by Flávio.

Jesus sends his disciples on a mission and gives them the power to drive out unclean spirits. The luggage is sober, just enough to dress and protect your feet. The food must come from the hospitality of the host. No more "hitting cold iron", that is, preaching to those who refuse to listen to the Christian message. In this case, "get out of there dusting your feet". It is a gesture of accusation, as if to say: I walked here and announced the project of God revealed by Jesus; I did my part ... The disciples follow Jesus' directions and confirm his preaching with concrete and beneficial actions (v. 13). And what do we do concretely?

1a. Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the first book of Kings 2,1-4.10-12 - 1Near the end of his life, David gave these instructions to his son Solomon: 2 “I will follow the path of all mortals. Be brave and behave like a man. 3 Observe the precepts of the Lord your God, walking in his ways, observing his statutes, his commandments, his precepts and his teachings, as they are written in the law of Moses. And so you will be successful in everything you do and in all your projects. 4Then the Lord will fulfill his promise to me, saying: 'If your children keep a good course, walking loyally before me, with all their heart and with all their soul, you will never lack a successor on the throne of Israel' ”. 10And David fell asleep with his parents and was buried in the city of David. 11The time that David reigned in Israel was forty years: seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem. 12Salomon succeeded his father David on the throne, and his kingdom was solidly established. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho
Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia.

Gospel
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Convert and believe the gospel, / for the kingdom of God is coming! (Mk 1,15) - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 6,7-13 - At that time, 7Jesus called the twelve and began to send them two by two, giving them power over unclean spirits. 8 He recommended that they take nothing to the path, except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money around your waist. 9 He ordered them to wear sandals and not to wear two tunics. 10And Jesus said: “When you enter a house, stay there until you leave. 11If they do not receive you or want to listen to you somewhere, when you go out, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them! ”12Then the twelve left and preached that all should be converted. 13 They cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with oil. - Word of salvation.

Cura pela fé.
Healing by faith.

By the word and power of Jesus, two cases of healing: women and girl, away from social life. Highlights: the expression of the faith of the head of the synagogue: "Come and lay your hands upon it, that it may be saved and alive"; the boldness and faith of the woman suffering from bleeding: "If I just touch his robes, I will be healed";  and Jesus with complete willingness to help those who ask him for help.

1a. Leitura

1st. Reading
Reading Samuel's second book 18,9-10.14.24-25.30-19,3 – In those days, 9Absalom found himself by chance in the presence of David's men. It was riding a mule, and it got under the thick foliage of a large oak tree. Absalom's head was trapped in the branches of the tree, so that he was suspended between heaven and earth, while the mule on which he was riding passed on. 10Someone saw this and informed Joab, saying, "I saw Absalom suspended in an oak tree." 14Joab then took three darts and stuck them in Absalom's chest. 24Davi was sitting between two city gates. The sentry who had climbed to the door terrace, over the wall, raised his eyes and shared a man who had been running alone. 25 He went to shout and warned the king, who said, "If he comes alone, bring some good news." 30The king said to him, "Pass and wait here." Having passed and being in his place, 31 appeared the Ethiopian and said, "I bring you, Lord my king, the good news: the Lord has done you justice against all who had revolted against you." 32The king asked the Ethiopian, "Is it all right for the young Absalom?" And the Ethiopian said, "Be lucky enough of this young man the king's enemies, my lord, and all who stand up against you to harm you!" 19.1 Then the king shuddered, ascended into the room that is above the door and fell into tears. He said among hiccups, "My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! Why didn't I die instead? Absalom, my son, my son!" 2They announced to Joab that the king was crying and whining because of his son. 3 Thus, victory became mourning that day for all the people, for the people had known that the king was late in pain because of his son. "Word of the Lord, in and lay your hands upon it, that it may be saved and alive"; the boldness and faith of the woman suffering from bleeding: "If I just touch his robes, I will be healed"; and Jesus with complete willingness to help those who ask him for help.

Salmo 85/86
Inclinai vosso ouvido, ó Senhor, e respondei-me!
1. Inclinai, ó Senhor, vosso ouvido, / escutai, pois sou pobre e infeliz!
Animai e alegrai vosso servo, / pois a vós eu elevo a minha alma.
3. Ó Senhor, vós sois bom e clemente, / sois perdão para quem vos invoca. / Escutai, ó Senhor, minha prece, / o lamento da minha oração!

Psalm 85/96
Bow your ear, O Lord, and answer me!
1. Bow, O Lord, your ear, / listen, for I am poor and unhappy! / Protect me, that I am your friend, † and save your servant, my God, / who waits and trusts you!
2. Pity me, O Lord, / for I cry out for you all day!/ Animate and rejoice your servant, / for I raise my soul to you.
3. O Lord, you are good and forgiving, / you are forgiveness to those who invoke you./ Listen, O Lord, my prayer, / the lament of my prayer!

Evangelho
Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia. 34Ele lhe disse: “Filha, a tua fé te curou.

Gospel
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Christ took upon himself our pains, / carried in his body our weaknesses (Mt 8,17). Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 5,21-43 – At that time, 21Jesus crossed again on a barge, to the other bank. A large crowd gathered next to him and Jesus stayed on the beach. 22 Then one of the chiefs of the synagogue, named Jairus, approached. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet 23 and asked with insistence, "My little girl is in the last. Come and put your hands on her, so she can be and live!" 24Jesus then accompanied him. A large crowd followed and compressed him. 25Ora, there was a woman who, twelve years ago, had a hemorrhage; 26 had suffered in the hands of many doctors, spent everything he possessed and, instead of improving, worsened more and more. 27 And he heard of Jesus, he approached him from behind, in the midst of the crowd, and touched his clothes. 28 She thought, "If I even touch his clothes, I'll be cured." 29A hemorrhage stopped immediately, and the woman felt inside herself that she was cured of the disease. 30Jesus soon realized that a force had come out of it. And turning in the crowd, he asked, "Who touched my clothes?" 31The disciples said, "Do you see the multitude that compresses you and still asks, 'Who touched me?'" 32 But he looked around to see who had done it. 33A woman, full of fear and trembling, realizing what had happened to her, came and fell at the feet of Jesus and told him all the truth. 34 He said to him, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. She goes to peace and is cured of this disease." 35 He was still speaking when some of the synagogue chief's house arrived and said to Jairus, "Your daughter died. Why still bother the master?" 36Jesus heard the news and said to the head of the synagogue, "Don't be afraid. Just have faith!" 37 And he did not let anyone accompany him, except Peter, James, and his brother John. 38 When they arrived at the home of the head of the synagogue, Jesus saw the confusion and how they were crying and screaming. 39 Then he came in and said, "Why this confusion and this crying? The child is not dead, but he's asleep." 40 then began to make fun of him. But he told everyone to leave, except for the girl's father and mother and the three disciples who accompanied him. Then they went into the room where the child was. 41Jesus took the girl's hand and said, "Talitá cum" – which means, "Girl, get up!" 42 She got up immediately and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And everyone was amazed. 43 He strongly recommended that no one know about it. And he had to feed the girl. - Word of salvation.

Mary and Joseph took Jesus to present him to the Lord.

Forty days after birth, Jesus is consecrated to the Lord, as provided by the Mosaic law. According to this law, every male firstborn should be taken to the Temple and offer it to the Lord and, at the same time, perform the ritual purification of the mother. The parents rescue him by offering a pair of lovebirds (an offer from the poor). This festival started in the East under the name of “meeting party” (hippante), then extended to the West, and took the name “party of lights” (candelaria). With this party, Christmas celebrations are over.

1a. Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the prophecy of Malachi 3,1-4 - Thus says the Lord: 1Behold, I send my angel, and he will prepare the way for me; soon the dominator, whom you are trying to find, and the covenant angel, whom you desire, will arrive at his temple. Here it is, says the Lord of hosts; 2and who will be able to face you on the day of your arrival? And who will be able to resist him when he appears? He is like the fire of the forge and like the washcloths' bar; 3e will be ready, as if to melt and purify the silver: thus he will purify the children of Levi and refine them as gold and silver, and they will thus be able to make righteous offerings to the Lord. 4 The oblation of Judah and Jerusalem will then be acceptable to the Lord, as in the early days and in the ancient years. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 23/24
O rei da glória é o Senhor onipotente!
4. Dizei-nos: “Quem é este rei da glória?” † “O rei da glória é o Senhor onipotente, / o rei da glória é o Senhor Deus do universo.”

Psalm 2324
The king of glory is the omnipotent Lord!
1. “O gates, raise up your gables! † Rise higher, ancient gates, / so that the king of glory may enter! ”
2. Tell us:“ Who is this king of glory? ”†“ Is the Lord, the mighty, the omnipotent , / the Lord, the mighty one in battles! ”
3.“ O gates, lift up your gables! † Rise higher, ancient gates, / so that the king of glory may enter! ”
4. Tell us,“ Who is this king of glory? ”†“ The king of glory is the omnipotent Lord, / the king of glory is the Lord God of the universe. ”

Evangelho
Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia.

Gospel
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. You are the light that will shine for the Gentiles / and for the glory of Israel, your people (Lk 2,32). Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 2,22-40 - 22When the days for the purification of the mother and child were completed, according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord , 23as it is written in the law of the Lord: "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord." 24They also offered a sacrifice - a pair of doves or two lovebirds - as required by the law of the Lord. 25 In Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon, who was just and godly and awaited the comfort of the people of Israel. The Holy Spirit was with him 26 and had announced to him that he would not die before seeing the Messiah who comes from the Lord. 27Moved by the Spirit, Simeon came to the temple. When the parents brought the baby Jesus to do what the law ordered, 28Simeon took the baby in his arms and blessed God: 29 “Now, Lord, according to your promise, you can let your servant go in peace; 30for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared before all peoples: 32light to illuminate the nations and glory of your people Israel ”. 33 Jesus' father and mother were amazed at what they said about him. 34Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, the mother of Jesus: “This boy is going to be a cause of both fall and uplift for many in Israel. It will be a sign of contradiction. 35Thus the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. As for you, a sword will pierce your soul ”. 36There was also a prophetess, named Ana, daughter of Fanuel, of the tribe of Asher. He was very old; as a young woman, she had been married and lived with her husband for seven years. 37Then she had become a widow and was now eighty-four years old. He did not leave the temple, day and night, serving God with fasting and prayers. 38Anna arrived at that moment and began to praise God and to speak of the boy to all who were waiting for the liberation of Jerusalem. 39After completing everything, according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to Nazareth, their city. 40The boy grew and became strong, full of wisdom; and the grace of God was with him. - Word of salvation.
