Evangelho - João 15,9-17

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: ⁹“Como meu Pai me amou, assim também eu vos amei. Permanecei no meu amor. ¹⁰Se guardardes os meus mandamentos, permanecereis no meu amor, assim como eu guardei os mandamentos do meu Pai e permaneço no seu amor. ¹¹E eu vos disse isso para que a minha alegria esteja em vós e a vossa alegria seja plena. ¹²Este é o meu mandamento: amai-vos uns aos outros, assim como eu vos amei. ¹³Ninguém tem amor maior do que aquele que dá sua vida pelos amigos. ¹⁴Vós sois meus amigos se fizerdes o que eu vos mando. ¹⁵Já não vos chamo servos, pois o servo não sabe o que faz o seu senhor. Eu vos chamo amigos, porque vos dei a conhecer tudo o que ouvi de meu Pai. ¹⁶Não fostes vós que me escolhestes, mas fui eu que vos escolhi e vos designei para irdes e para que produzais fruto, e o vosso fruto permaneça. O que então pedirdes ao Pai em meu nome, ele vo-lo concederá. ¹⁷Isto é o que vos ordeno: amai-vos uns aos outros”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - John 15,9-17

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to John - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 9 "As my Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Stay in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11And I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be full. 12 This is my commandment: love one another, even as I have loved you. 13 No one has greater love than he who gives his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, for I have made known to you all that I have heard from my Father. 16 It was not you who chose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit and your fruit to remain. Whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he shall give it unto you. This is what I command you: love one another. " - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Para o lugar de Judas Iscariotes, os Onze escolheram Matias, por este ter seguido Jesus durante seu ministério público, a começar de João Batista até o dia da Ascensão (cf. At 1,15-20). Desse modo, Matias tornou-se testemunha qualificada da ressurreição de Jesus. Se há um tema sobre o qual Jesus não se cansa de insistir, é o amor: “Permaneçam no meu amor”. O amor de Jesus é concreto, real, feito de obediência à vontade do Pai. Jesus é e sente-se infinitamente amado pelo Pai e, por sua vez, ama intensamente seus discípulos, a ponto de entregar-lhes a própria vida. Esse é o modelo de amor: dar a vida pela pessoa amada. Mas o amor de Jesus pede nossa resposta. De que maneira podemos expressar o nosso amor a Jesus? Mediante nosso amor a Deus e aos irmãos.

Reflecting the Gospel

"For the place of Judas Iscariot, the Eleven chose Matthias because he followed Jesus during his public ministry, beginning with John the Baptist until the day of the Ascension (cf. Acts 1: 15-20). In this way, Matthias became a qualified witness of Jesus' resurrection. If there is one theme about which Jesus never tires of insisting, it is love: "Abide in my love." The love of Jesus is concrete, real, made of obedience to the will of the Father. Jesus is and feels infinitely loved by the Father and, in turn, loves his disciples intensely, to the point of giving them his own life. This is the model of love: giving one's life for one's loved one. But Jesus' love asks for our answer. In what ways can we express our love for Jesus? Through our love for God and our brothers."
